Home Page Title

  • How can I revise the font of the main website headline? When I am on a PC that main font looks like comic sans. On the mobile site (looking at it from an iphone) it looks fine but a very different cursive font from when I am looking at it from my mac laptop. How can I edit this font, so it reflects the same from wherever I am looking (i.e. helvetica or similar). Thanks

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello!

    It looks like you have the default mobile theme enabled, which is loading a different style for your mobile theme than what we have. If you disable the mobile theme option from your site you’ll still have a responsive site but it will keep the styling we’ve included in the theme by default. You should then see the Pacifico font on all devices for the site title.

    If you’re hoping to change the font from Pacifico to something else you can use the following CSS:

    #header .site-title {
        font-family: 'Helvetica';
    }

    Edit as desired.

    Thanks!

  • Does turning off the mobile site mean the desktop version will appear when looking from a phone? If yes, I definitely want to avoid that route. Is there a non CSS way to edit the headline font? Thx

  • Also, how would I disable the mobile theme in wordpress? Thanks for all your help!

  • Hello!

    No, the theme already has a mobile layout included in it, so with the WordPress default theme you’re not getting that. The option to disable the mobile theme can be found in your WP Admin area if you navigate to Appearance > Mobile. You can view the demo site on a mobile device to see what it’s supposed to look like: https://profiledemo.wordpress.com/.

    As for the headline font, I’m afraid this is only possible with CSS. The alternative is to upload a logo instead of using the site title. This will replace the site title and tagline with an image of your choice instead.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks for your quick replies. :) I am looking in the wordpress admin area > Appearance, but only see Themes / Customize / Widgets / Menus / Header / Background / Premium Themes / Theme License / Editor. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong place?

  • Hello!

    Can you confirm you’re looking from here: https://travelqueenofhearts.wordpress.com/wp-admin?

    Then navigate to Appearance > Mobile and it should display there.

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

  • Thanks for that link. I just made the switch but the font is still not updating…?

  • Perhaps this is why and at this point beyond my scope of knowledge. :) The site travelqueenofhearts.wordpress.com is not the site I use, and I just noticed it is a version from more than a year ago. I also switched my hosting to bluehost some time ago and have been working from travelqueenofhearts.com…just recently I changed my site to caitlinjoydobson.com.

    My original question posted to this forum automatically populated the “The blog I need help with is travelqueenofhearts.wordpress.com.” But in reality I am looking at http://www.caitlinjoydobson.com. Hopefully I am making enough sense for you to know how to better direct me? Thanks for all your patience with me and my questions. :)

  • So, the address I work from is http://www.caitlinjoydobson.com/wp-admin/ …there the mobile option is not showing in the appearance setting…

  • Hello!

    If you’re needing help for the self-hosted version of the Profile Theme you’ll need to contact Organic Themes directly. These forums are only for the WP.com version of the site, so I’m probably giving you the wrong information. You can send an email through the contact page on Organicthemes.com or submit requests for support on the support forum available there. I’ll be following up with you there also, but it will make sure we’re giving you the correct information and not confuse anyone else possibly reading through this thread.

    Thanks!

    Rebecca

  • Gotcha, makes sense. Thx

  • No problem! :)

    Cheers,

    Rebecca

  • Hello again, Rebecca. This is still unresolved. Organic themes is saying I need to install wordpress plug-ins to change the font? Really? At this point I am confused…who can help and fix this? I did not see a follow up from you there- just two different people giving me two different answers…one telling me to install plug-ins and another asking for screenshots and only then can they gauge what the issue is… thanks.

  • Hi Cait,

    I’m the one following up with you through Organic Themes and needing the screenshot. Please see my latest reply there as this thread will now be closed. You shouldn’t be using WP.com if you are using a self-hosted site.

    Thanks,

    Rebecca
