Featured Post takes a while to appear on homepage

  • All of our blog posts have the ‘featured’ tag, and as I understand it that means the newest 5 will appear at the top of the homepage, however when a new post is published it either appears at the top instantly, or after a couple of hours, or in some cases it takes several hours.

Is there a fix for this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello,

Hmm… the theme does not have any functionality to delay displaying the Featured Content posts so it might be something to do with the caching.

I’ve tagged this post for a WordPress.com staff member to look at.

    Thanks,
    Taras

  • We’ve had a handful of reports of delays with Featured Content appearing after being tagged in the editor.

The next time you need to tag a new Featured Content post, would you mind trying to do it in the older WP Admin editor? Let me know if you still see a delay at that point.

This will confirm whether the culprit is the editor, or something else.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi Kathryn,

Thanks for your response. I think you are right, two articles today the first published using the older editor as you recommended immediately appeared in the featured section.

The second was done using the new editor and so far has not appeared that way (it usually does within a few hours though).

Hope that helps you troubleshoot and resolve.

  • Thanks for confirming that the issue only occurs when using the newer editor. I’ve added your case to our internal report so we can track it, and we’ll keep you posted here.
