Creating posts that don't show up on home page

Hello! I would like to write some posts that don’t show up on my home page with my stories. Instead, I’d like those posts to gather under my page entitled “Nerdy Scribbler News.” I tried creating a category, adding it to my main menu and linking the new posts to that category but it didn’t work as it still shows up on the home page. Is there another way to do this? I would like only my story posts to show up on the home page (like it does automatically) and the availability to create posts that show up elsewhere on my menu. Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi there,
I’m trying to think about a solution. It’s possible on a WordPress.org site where you have the option to set categories for your home page (on most themes at least) but WordPress.com does not have such an options panel which allows you to edit the home page category for your site.
