Kate Osborne is a writer and digital producer. She has written for print publications, online and scripted documentaries featuring north Queensland community stories. Kate’s non-fiction articles have covered environmental issues in northern Australia, She has also produced short biographical pieces in print and digital formats and contributed to north Queensland “place-based” creative writing projects. Kate’s films and radio documentaries feature north Queensland stories and identities. Her most recent work documented the artist stories of indigenous students and through the Aboriginal and Islander Art Project: People, Culture and Country. Kate’s audio documentaries include colourful characters from the north Queensland fishing industry and heartfelt recollections from Townsville residents following their experience of the 2019 Townsville floods. I acknowledge the Wulgurukaba Gurambilbarra and Yunbenun people, and the Bindal people of Townsville, on whose land I live and work, paying respect to their ancestors and elders past, present and emerging.
