Widget for top posts and paged
When I type the number of images to display it is incorrect e.g. 3 give me 4 I am not able to put 3 images on my sidebar. Also can you have smaller images and a two bar grid? Thank you. Just changed over to this new theme :)
The blog I need help with is: foodandtools.com
Hello was wondering if anyone can answer the above question?
Thanks for reaching out! I see you are using two different widgets on the sidebar regarding posts; ‘Recent Posts’ and ‘Other Posts’. Which widget are referring to and I will be glad to look further into this.
Hi Angela, It is the Other Posts I am referring to it seems when I enter a number of images to display it does not match the number. I have also noticed that when logged in I cannot edit a post or page from the post itself, no edit tag like on the old theme. Thanks. :)
Why is it taking so long to get a reply? Please could someone reply :(
I apologize in delay. Could you provide the name of the widget that you are utilizing to create the ‘Other Posts’ area?
Regarding the edit tag, it should work just as other themes. Perhaps our WordPress staff friends could help in this matter. I’ve included theme on this thread.
The widget is Top Posts and Pages. Thanks
Hi there – I’ve done some testing and haven’t yet been able to replicate the incorrect number of posts being displayed in this widget. (I see that you have 3 as your desired number of posts set in the widget, but 4 are displaying.) I’m going to ask our developers to have a look and we’ll keep you posted here.
I have also noticed that when logged in I cannot edit a post or page from the post itself, no edit tag like on the old theme.
Yumblog doesn’t appear to display Edit links on the front end of the site, but that could be something Angela might ask the developers to add as an enhancement to the theme.
To have go back to the dashboard each time to edit a post or image is time consuming. Edit links on the post, page and image are very helpful. Thank you for your help please keep me posted.
Some questions as I am new to CSS will it be possible to move the tag, comments and author links to the bottom of a post ranter than being displayed above an image? Also the recipe sheet is yellow can it be changed to another color? Thank you.
I have created a ticket for my dev team to add the edit links on the front end. Thank you for reaching out!!
I will keep you posted as to when you will see this change.
Regarding your CSS questions:
– The tags are generated in the hard code in a specific location that is not modifiable on a per user basis.
– Changing the color of the recipe card is possible however, you would need an understanding of how to handle CSS.
I will keep you updated on the edit links.
Thank you Angela for your reply, the edits links will be a great help. Do you have to make a child theme before changing things with CSS. Also how do I change the color of the recipe sheet. ? Thank up. :)
My dev team added edit links for posts and will add to pages next.
Creating child themes is something you can do for self-hosted themes, not on WordPress.com. I believe you would have to purchase the design upgrade to be able to add CSS but you would have to know what CSS to target.
I will keep you updated on the page edit links.
Hi Angela was wondering what has happened to the query regarding the widget for “other posts” on my sidebar, does not post the correct number of images, 3 gives me 4, 4 gives me 5 etc, it seems only 1 and 2 are working. It has been a week since I posted this question. Thank you for adding the edit link :). Waiting your reply.
Hi foodandtools – our developers are still looking into the Top Posts and Pages widget issue and will keep you posted here.
You might also try the “image list” option instead of “image grid.”
Just a quick update on the front end editing. You can edit both the posts and pages now from an edit link on that specific post or page. Please let me know if you have any other questions regarding this.
All seems to be working with the Top Posts and Pages now and displaying the correct number of images. Thank you Angela :)
All seems to be working with the Top Posts and Pages now and displaying the correct number of images.
That’s something we changed last night on the WordPress.com side – Top Posts and Pages isn’t a theme-specific widget, it can be used in any theme.
What was happening before is that when you chose the “image grid” option (versus “image list”) we were always rounding the number of images displayed up to the closest even number, so the grid would always have two items in each row. Our developers changed that so the number you select will now never be rounded. Particularly since some themes display images in a single column – even when you select the grid option – respecting the exact number you select without rounding seemed to make the most sense, so that’s what we did.
Thanks for reporting the issue!
