What should your page settings be set on to properly display on theme

    I had an issue where I tried to add an about page to my theme and I lost the whole set up. I been working on it and I eliminated the about and contact page and got the theme back. What I’d like to know what does the parent and template page setting need to be so I can have your theme show and the pages tab show on the top right corner? Thank you for your help with this.
