How do I change the website that’s shown as the page link when you try to share a page e.g. with the Twitter share button – when I share using the Twitter button on any page where I’ve enabled sharing, the popup that comes up shows the WordPress domain name, rather than the hosted domain name I’ve got redirected for my website (www.thresholdimpact.com)?

The blog I need help with is: thresholdimpact.com

To clarify – what I see when I try to share is the following:

    Our Team http://wp.me/P2HYAJ-1N via @wordpressdotcom

I’d like to change two things in this: a) make the weblink show my website domain (http://www.thresholdimpact.com/etc) rather than the http://wp.me.etc – and b) also be able to change the Twitter hashtag that’s shown (e.g. to my personal one or my website’s one, or c) maybe just remove it altogether).

How do I do each of these three points above? Sorry for not being more clear in the initial post.

    thanks!

    Hey Ray,

Unfortunately there is no custom control over this here on WordPress.com.

    Kind Regards

Actually – not so. I was skeptical that this feature wasn’t possible as I had seen it on other business site-enabled WordPress blogs, so I dug deeper and did some searching on the main support forums. Eventually I found this:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/publicize/#twitter

Once Publicize is enabled, future posts are shared (with the Twitter popup) with the new primary Twitter account you have enabled. And future posts get pushed to Twitter to the account(s) you have linked (you can link multiple accounts).

I just tried it (reposting an old post) and it works. Kind of a pain to repost all old posts to enable it as you have to then delete them as Tweets, but it’s feasible. And going forward it’s on by default now.

    Hey Ray,

Appreciate the additional info and will definitely pass this along to users with the same question.

The link here was very helpful:

    Wasn’t aware of this.

Happy to see you’ve been able to get this resolved and thanks again!

    Cheers,
    Scott
