We are buying Kent just for its left floating menu and its open/close tree
We are buying Kent just for its top left always-visible floating menu button and its open/close tree of menu items for many of other WordPress.com blogs so I hope you will never remove that always-visible top left menu floating button and the open/close nature of the menu items in future theme updates. Can you please kindly confirm that? Thank you very much for these two unique features.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
I meant especially in the mobile view. I hope you will not remove these two features in the mobile view in future updates?
Hi there – thanks for the message. We have no plans to change the design of Kent in any significant way.
I don’t change my themes unless there is a genuine improvement to be made (or bug to be fixed) – and as you point out the menu is one of the unique features of Kent – so that won’t be removed.
Thanks. Have bought it for one more blog. Before we buy Kent for 3-6 more blogs, I am facing a problem. I wanted an option for Kent to show full posts on the home page and on the category and tag pages instead of excerpts so that visitors can read the full posts just be scrolling down. Can you please please provide an option in the theme for the same? The only way I can do this now is to again copy and paste the whole post in the excerpt which is quite cumbersome for me to do for each post and then to change it when the post is edited. Also I mostly post from the WordPress app and the option to add an excerpt is not there in the WordPress neither it is in the mobile browsers. So please help by giving this option in the theme to show full posts.
Actually on second thoughts we are again happy with the way it is now so that we can keep some posts showing only excerpt and some short posts or book chapter posts showing full text by pasting the whole code from the text tab into the excerpt.
Thanks for the feedback. I shall consider this as a feature for a future update.
Regarding the wordpress.com app – is there not a place to add the excerpt under ‘more options’ in the left hand column?
It is not there in the more in the iOS app neither I think in the Android app.
ah ok – I only checked the desktop app.
I’ll keep this in mind for a future update but for the time being I’ll put it to one side.
If you can add it in a way that we can choose for each post whether to show the extract or the full post in the home, category and tag pages, then it would be so great, then please add it asap. Thanks.
Hi – I’ve considered this for the last couple of days but there is no way to add anything that changes how the posts display. WordPress.com rules say theme developers are not allowed to add extra functionality to the post editing page and so there’s no way to add a setting for this.
Sorry I can’t help here.
Then please please at least give an option in the Theme options to either show the full posts or excerpts in the home, category, tag, archive pages. Let it show the excerpt always on the search pages. We are facing a big problem to post from the app in the mobile or tablets since there is no excerpt option and it is double-work to copy and paste the whole post in the excerpt again. Sometimes we edit the post and forget to copy and paste it again in the excerpt so it keeps on showing the old version on the home and category pages. Please add this in the theme options. All other issues are sorted out so after you do this we can go ahead to purchase Kent for the other 4 blogs. Thanks in advance.
