'View project' text – can this be changed?

    I am using The Creative Theme but want to change the ‘View project’ text on each Project post link to something else. Is this only something I am able to do if I upgrade to a Premium (paid) WordPress account? I don’t seem to have access to a way to do this at the moment using a free WordPress account. Universally, I want all references to ‘project’ to be ‘shows’ on my site.

    I also want to change it so that ‘Archives: Projects’ says ‘Listings: All shows’ or similar.

    Many thanks!

    The blog I need help with is futureperfectweb.wordpress.com.

    I’m going to bring the WP staff in on this question. They can tell you more about what features the premium would allow and if this would be something possible with a paid account.

    Your site looks great!

    andyupthemes – if the wording changes futureperfectt mentions are possible in this theme with CSS alone, then Premium plan would allow access to custom CSS, and you could provide CSS for them to be able to make those changes.

    This is the page in question: https://futureperfectweb.wordpress.com/portfolio/

    Thanks for the help so far! Any help with the CSS code needed to amend this text would be greatly received..

    In that case, I don’t see any reason to sign up for the premium version as content like this cannot be changed with CSS. It would be pretty unusual for any content text to be editable through CSS. You might be able to do it with a translation file, but there again you won’t have any options to make your own translations with premium either.

    Unless you wanted to use the theme on a self-hosted install where you could create a child theme and modify the templates to set this text different, I don’t see anyway to modify that through wordpress.com with their current tools.

    As a workaround for things like this, we often provide users with CSS to hide things like default button text and add their own via ::before or ::after pseudo-elements. I didn’t look closely at the specific strings here to see if that would be possible, but FYI that’s what I was referring to. :)

    I have managed to change it with help from another user..

    Thanks for your replies!

    Here it is FYI…

    Here would be the CSS to change the “View project” on the portfolio page to something else. You can edit the content text string as desired.
    .mosaic-overlay .details span {
    visibility: hidden;
    }
    .mosaic-overlay .details span:after {
    visibility: visible;
    content: “My New Text →”
    display: block;
    }

    @futureperfectt I’m glad you got it working how you need!

    @kathrynwp That’s quite a hack for editing content and I don’t think I’ll likely recommend it as a “solution” for my customers. That said, with the limitations as they are I suppose there isn’t another option unless someone chooses self-hosted.

    It’s definitely hacky but sometimes it’s the only solution here. ;-)
