    Hi there.

    Mobile style sheet is fine, but ion desktop browsers, the video player seems to be broken – won’t play and displays as a thin box rather than formal size.

    Please check my website front page / blog for examples.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello,

    Try adding the following styling for the iframe in the Custom CSS add-on:

    iframe {
        height: 100vh;
    }

    Let me know if this doesn’t help.

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

    Thanks Rebecca.

    I deleted all the CSS and the framing now seems correct, but i’m getting white bubbles in the top left corner – do you know what that means? The video refuses to play.

    At the moment, none of the video is playing anywhere across my site.

    Hi,

    Everything looks fine for me. Can you confirm which browser you are having this issue on?

    Please keep the same questions to the same thread, this will help for more concise follow up. :)

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

    Hi there

    Browser is Chrome – am seeing the problem across different PCs. The video image titles vertically over itself and large white “…” appear in the top left corner as you continue to interact with the image. Very weird.

    Hi Rebecca.

    Just tried it in Internet Explorer on PC and it works okay, but Chrome is definitely not working. Is a problem on iPad Safari and Chrome too.

    Thanks, Sam

    Hi Rebecca. Please see this screenshot of what it looks like on a PC running Chrome trying to play a video:

    Please can you help me find a fix asap.

    Thanks, Sam

    Hi Sam,

    What version of Chrome are you using and which operating system? On Chrome 43.0.2357.132, Windows 8.1 the video is also displaying fine. See here: https://cloudup.com/cx0C9McGVmu.

    Although, because this is self-hosted video through Video Press I’m going to tag WordPress.com staff to this thread so they can also take a look at this.

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

    Hi Rebecca.

    Would be great if you could query it with wordpress staff, thank you.

    I noticed that if i previewed other themes on those posts, the video issue continued.

    Am on win 8.1 but will check Chrome is up to date.

    Thanks, Sam

    Sounds good Sam. It’s also working fine on my MacBook Air with the latest OSX on Chrome, Safari and Firefox.

    WordPress.com staff have been notified and will follow up with you on this thread.

    Thanks,

    Rebecca

    Hi Sam, I tested your site on Chrome 43 /Win 8.1 as well as iPad/Safari, and your videos looked fine – here’s a screenshot from Chrome: https://cloudup.com/c-c5Fk3AhDv

    I noticed that if i previewed other themes on those posts, the video issue continued.

    If the issue is happening with any theme, it indicates that the issue is not theme-specific.

    For the Chrome issue, one thing you could do is try deactivating all browser extensions to see if something may be interfering.

    If you scroll down on the VideoPress page, are you able to see the demo video here, just below where it says “The easiest way to upload your videos to the web”:

    Firstly, I appreciate the attention you’re giving this issue Rebecca, thank you.

    I’m a bit mystified – I couldn’t see that video you referred to, same ‘…’ bubbles appear. However, if I open the video link in a new window, Chrome can play the video no problem – same goes for my videos, if I open the direct URL, they play.

    Have reinstalled Chrome but same issue. and deactivated any extensions, except Google Drive ones.

    Rest of the page is fine by the way – the screenshot you made only showed images which represent fine, not a video, which is the problem.

    Regards, Sam

    Thanks for testing the VideoPress page. This confirms that the issue is not theme-related, but instead related to VideoPress.

    I tested the VideoPress demo video in Windows 8.1/Chrome 43 and was able to view it fine:

    At this stage I’d suggest you contact general WordPress support so they can dig deeper into this with you outside of the Photographer forum. Please send an email to support AT wordpress DOT com and a Happiness Engineer will continue troubleshooting with you one-on-one by email.
