Video Excerpt Not Displaying on Homepage

    Hi,

    I have just begun using the Publisher theme, and one of the things that made it most attractive for us was the availability of playable video images on the homepage. However, all of the video posts we have put up display a text-only version of the post on the homepage ‘collage’.

    We have tried using the ‘Excerpt’ module, and inserting the video (from YouTube) via the ‘Insert Media’ button, as well as pulling the link from YouTube, and so far–no success. I feel like this should be a simple fix–maybe have a wrong box checked somewhere?

    Alrighty, then, I have figured it out. The links I was using included width and height restrictions, which proved unnecessary, and interfered with the video display.

    Hi there,
    Glad you sorted it out!

    The best way to do video and a snippet of text is to use the More tag. Check out the 3rd bullet in the Adding Homepage Excerpts section of the support page.

    Hey guys,

    Love the theme, but I have the same problem. I have tried the ‘more tag’ but it only displayed the link to my you tube video, not the actual video. Not sure what to do as my videos don’t seem to have height and width restrictions. I would really like to be able to display the vids as (much the same as stpatton) thats what made publisher so cool to me.

    Can you give me some more details of how you’re embedding the video? Are you adding the embed code, just a link, etc?
