    Hello,

    On the live view of Rosalie, the menu goes left to right, but on my page I have to click the 3 lines on the top left and it goes into a drop down menu. How do I change the menu so it goes across my page on the top left in line with the social media icons that are on the top right?

    The blog I need help with is: trippytulip.wordpress.com

    1) Also, I really like the layout of Rosalie in the live view. How do I replicate that style as much as possible? For instance, under categories, it drops down into inspiration, travel, and fantasy. How can I do something similar?

    2) Next, the homepage, is that a static or no?

    3) I like how as you scroll down on the home page in the live view, you see one post going across the screen, then below it there are two columns. How do I get a similar effect?

    Based on the previous discussion in the forum before mine, I may have figured out how to have my top menu lead to other pages. Please confirm if this is right: instead of making the top menu as “pages” I need to make them as “categories?”

    Also, lets say I have a category called Destinations and I create a subcategory called Greece and France. Can I have a separate slider bar on the Destination page highlighting posts I have about Greece and France?

    Hi there,
    thanks for writing and using Rosalie :)

    About your questions:

    0. The menu has two designs, one for smartphones, tablets and small screens (smaller than 992px) with the hamburger icon (also called responsive menu) and then the full menu with all items inline for screens bigger that 993px (laptops and desktops). This is how demo site works:
    https://rosaliedemo.wordpress.com/

    Desktop: http://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/2016/5pRA6C.jpg
    Mobile, tablet and small screens: http://imagizer.imageshack.com/img923/9885/EOpoKZ.jpg

    1. To replicate the style, just set your latest post as homepage (this is the default behaviour), select the number of columns you want to have in Customise > Theme Options and additionally mark a post as sticky:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

    About categories, add them to your custom menu: https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
    as follow:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/#step-2-add-the-category-menu-item

    2. The homepage has to be set to “your latest posts”. No static page is needed.

    3. To have the featured content are, just follow the instructions: Section Featured content Slider > https://wordpress.com/theme/rosalie/setup
    To have a post after that that gets 100% of width, mark it as sticky:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

    4. Yes, if you want to have different listing pages with posts related with a tag or category, you should use categories instead of pages. Pages are only to show static content. Here you are more info:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/

    5. Unfortunately slider bar in only available on the homepage. So you can only create one slider per site.

    Hope this helps :)

    Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it and I am starting to get the hang of the theme.

    Is there any css that could put a slider or even just an image on other pages?

    Just to clarify, should my top menu be categories or pages?

    You are welcome :)

    Yes, you can add galleries and slideshows to pages, but inside the page content:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/gallery/

    About pages vs categories, if you want to list posts, you need categories, so the answer is categories.

    Thanks again!

    Thank you so much!!

    One more question (hopefully lol) when I add the slideshow, can one of the photo’s link to a blog post? Also, can I add writing over the photo like the title to the blog post that I want it to connect to?

    I really appreciate all your help and thank you in advanced for answering all my questions.

    Question: If I have a linked a word in a blog post, how come that word isn’t linked on the preview?

    Also, if I include a gallery slide show in one of my posts, some of the photos are smaller in the gallery. How can I change the black background of the negative space? Should/Can I turn it white so it blends in with the theme color?

    Hi there,

    it looks like galleries thumbnails can not be linked to a custom post or link. Here you are more info:
    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-to-insert-a-link-into-a-gallery-image?replies=14

    And yes, you can add a caption to each image to show like a title.

    About styles in preview they are managed by WordPress.com. You have two options, the old WP-admin (trippytulip.wordpress.com/wp-admin) or the new (https://wordpress.com/posts/trippytulip.wordpress.com). You can use what you want.

    And finally if you want to change the color from black to white, add this CSS:

    .slideshow-window {
        background-color: #fff;
        border: 20px solid #fff;
    }

    Hope this helps :)
