Too much space between site name and headline

    Does not use Logo in Spatial. Still, there is a little too much air between site name and headline.
    Love the theme’s airy look. But it gets too much scrolling before arriving at the content. Can you help me compress the space slightly.

    Hi Rune,

    Thank you for the kind words about the Spatial theme.

    Issues relating to spacing can be handled by Custom CSS.

    Can you let me know if this reduces the space enough between site name and page headline?

    .single .site-content, body.page .site-content {
      padding-top: 0 !important;
    }

    Regards,
    Leland

    It worked. Thanks!
    But there is no opportunity to set a value that I can adjust and try?
    Must probably teach me CSS :-)

    Can you also reduce the height of the boxes with earlier and later posts? Now there is so much air that visitors think that the page ends before they come to the comment field and beyond.

    Hi Rune,

    No problem!

    In which direction are you hoping to adjust? More space or less space?

    If you’re interested in learning, this tutorial might help: https://designtlc.com/use-chrome-inspector-edit-website-css/

    Can you also reduce the height of the boxes with earlier and later posts?

    Yes, we can do that too. To reduce the height of the boxes that link to previous and next posts on blog posts, you can do something like this:

    .post-navigation a {
    padding-top: 15px !important;
    padding-bottom: 15px !important;
    }

    Increase the “15” number if you want more space.

    Now there is so much air that visitors think that the page ends before they come to the comment field and beyond.

    I’m curious, is this something that visitors have told you? Or is it something that you think visitors are experiencing?

    Leland

    Hi,
    I’m helping an untech, restless writer, Bo Borg, to come out online. And he stops scrolling when it gets white on the side and never comes to the end. He stops after the closing image.
    But it will probably be a little better now when I added Related articles with pictures.

    And then a new problem arose. A page https://bosseborg.wordpress.com/2019/03/12/forkladd-gud-st-nicolai-i-lidkoping/
    do not get the picture as a related link.
    The difference on this page and the other is that I entered a caption and started it with a caption.

    Another concern is that Tags does not want to work in the Block Editor. Must insert them into the Classic Editor.

    When it comes to the distance to the headline, I’m probably satisfied. Would possibly want to try to reduce it a bit more.

    Distance and air is something that only applies to the computer. A lot of air in the desigen is a big plus also. It’s very nice.
    We are both happy with how well it works on cellphone and pad.

    Will try your code little later.
    Now I will see TV, World Championship Biathlon

    Hi Rune,

    do not get the picture as a related link.

    Hmm, I see this: https://cloudup.com/cKIhu74riWL

    The middle post in the one you’re talking about, I think? It appears to have a featured image displaying when it shows up in related posts.

    When it comes to the distance to the headline, I’m probably satisfied. Would possibly want to try to reduce it a bit more.

    Okay, to further reduce it, we’d have to use negative margins. Try the following example when you get the chance:

    .single .entry-header, body.page .entry-header {
    margin-top: -10px;
    }

    Increase the negative number (i.e. -20px or -30px) to decrease the space between the page title and site name.

    Another concern is that Tags does not want to work in the Block Editor. Must insert them into the Classic Editor.

    Hmm, have you contacted WordPress.com Support about this? This sounds like an issue that may affect all WordPress.com sites because it is not theme-specific. You can get in touch with them about this here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

    Let me know if you have any other questions and I’ll be glad to help!

    Hi,
    I understand I gave you the wrong link. I gave you a link to the page that hassles when it should act as a related link. That’s how it looks when it doesn’t want to work:
    https://bosseborg.wordpress.com/2019/03/10/fritiofs-saga-goteborgsoperan/

    I will get in touch with WordPress about the hassle of Tags in the Block Editor

    Thanks and I will return. But now some other work, to do ;-)

    Okay, I’m not sure I understand what the issue is on the page that you provided the link to. Since it’s regarding Related Posts, that can be on any theme, that might be something else that WordPress.com Support can advise about.

    If I’m misunderstanding and it is an issue that is specific to the Spatial theme, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to help.

    Hi,
    I read your answer in the pad and understood that you did not understand.
    Because there and in my cellphone it worked.
    But in my computer I saw this:

    null

    Link to the picture:
    null

    Only a white screen

    Hi Rune,

    Thanks for sharing that screenshot. I understand what you mean now.

    I am not seeing that issue myself (as you may have seen in the screenshot I posted in a previous post) so I’m not sure what I can do about it.

    Since this is regarding Related Posts functionality, WordPress.com Staff may have better insight.

    And Maybe soon Good Night. It’s 22.36 here in Sweden.

    .post-navigation a {
    padding-top: 15px !important;
    padding-bottom: 15px !important;
    }
    It was perfect.
    But now the space above and below feels unnecessarily large.
    Can you make it half that big?

    Greetings and thanks for all the help
    Rune

    Sure, try this:

    body .post-navigation {
    	margin-top: 40px;
    	padding-bottom: 30px;
    }

    Adjust numbers as you see fit.

    Many thanks!
    Now everything is almost perfect.

    A question how many words are collected to the Recent Posts page from each post.
    Can I reduce that number if I want to?

    The author who writes the blog and the books we report is not a member of Facebook or any other social media.
    Would it be possible to change the Social Menu in the right upper corner to Follow Bo Borg (“Följ Bo Borg” in Swedish). Not the blue button – it would “destroy” the site. Possibly if it was light gray.
    I understand that this requires much more than what I asked for earlier.
    I will learn a little about CSS, but not being able to do that procedure.

    Regards

    Sort of. There’s not a setting to reduce the number of words. However, you can customize the text there on a post-by-post basis using Excerpts.

    I don’t understand. You mean you want the text “Följ Bo Borg” to display in this instead of a social menu? What should it link to, if anything?

    Regards,
    Leland

    #141352

    It should have the same function as the blue W-button “Follow Bo Borg” which is at the bottom of each page.
    That readers can register and receive emails when the blog is updated with new content.

    Rune

    Oh, I understand what you mean. I’m afraid that won’t be possible as it is not supported by the Social Links Menu and not something you could do with just Custom CSS.

    #141354

    I have redesigned the Social Menu to two small anonymous buttons as direct selection for “Aktuellt” and “Tankar om…/Thoughts about …” on the blog.
    Can you add it to the main menu?
    Is there any way to get that function visible high up, but without destroying the design of the vary nice Spatial Theme.

    I’m not sure what you mean by this. Where exactly do you want to move the social menu buttons that you have added? You mean you want to put it in the flyout menu, as screenshotted here? https://cloudup.com/cjjpgprR5uy

    If so, I’m afraid that isn’t possible. The social menu cannot be placed in main menu slide out with just Custom CSS.

    Are we talking about the blue “Följ Bo Borg” button again? It may be possible to move it to the top but I’m not sure what you consider destroying the design. It sounded like you didn’t want the blue color? What if it were gray instead?

    #141356

    The Blue Follow button. Not the others.
