Title Fonts now Not Applying to Pages Other than Home
-
Hi, Taras
This has reference to the issue a few days ago regarding the title fonts not applying within the Home page. That was patched in the latest update, but now, it seems that the title fonts are applying ONLY within the Home page. Kindly, please fix this.
Cordially,

Hello,
I’ve just checked your singular pages and it looks like the font is loaded fine. Here are few screenshots:
– https://snipboard.io/w2bEKd.jpgI can see that the site title changes its font when leaving the homepage. The thing is that the site title changes its markup (from heading element to paragraph element) for SEO when viewing singular pages.
Since your custom fonts is added only for headings element, you can see this issue. Please try this custom CSS:
:root { --site-font-headings: 'Roboto Slab'; }
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Kind regards,
Taras -
I do not think you have 100% understood my issue here.
The site title I am referring to is “THE COMPUTER NOOB | BY COMPUTER PROS.” at the top of the page, and nothing else. This is supposed to be “Roboto Slab”, and used to work flawlessly across ALL pages before the 2–3 recent updates. You can see in your own screenshots that the font is NOT naturally being applied on pages other than the Home page. The font in your screenshots is not “Roboto Slab”, again, I am not talking about the headings, I am talking about the site’s top-most title line. The CSS solution you have provided does not work. Besides, CSS would merely be a “workaround”. I am looking for a proper fix on your side. This was all so perfect just 1 week ago, and now all of a sudden I have to deal with these font issues update upon update.
If you can recall, I am one of the users that had the issue of “Roboto Slab” NOT showing ONLY on the home page but showing on all OTHER pages. Now, after this other update, this effect has INVERSED and I see this font ONLY on the Home page and nowhere else. Please do something. This is quite frustrating lately, I have to spend hours with support for these issues and my website looks just bad and inconsistent to my viewers.

First of all I want to apologize about the issue with the custom font. Also, I would like to apologize about misunderstanding regarding the “Title Fonts”. I’ve thought you are referring to page titles (heading elements).
Now, I can see that you are just referring to the site title only.
“This was all so perfect just 1 week ago, and now all of a sudden I have to deal with these font issues update upon update.”
– Hm… this is strange. The thing is that the recent updates had nothing to do with the site title. This kind of HTML structure of the branding section (where the site title is located) has been in the theme for a long time.—
“Please do something.”
– Since the custom fonts functionality comes from the WordPress.com core, I am going to contact a WordPress.com team right now to add a special CSS to change the site title when a custom front for headings is used.As a temporary solution (I am not sure how many days it will take to make the change), please add this custom CSS (optional):
.site-title { font-family: "Roboto Slab" !important; }
If this custom CSS does not work as well then it’s possible that there is a typo in your custom CSS option.
Again, I am sorry for these troubles with the font.
Kind regards,
Taras -
Thank you for your quick response.
First of all, thank you for the CSS magic, it works like a charm as per my requirements and as intended; but I would still love to have a more “native” and proper “fix” soon, so I will wait for it. Please do notify me as soon as this is fixed so I can remove the CSS bit.
All was flawless just more than about a week ago, and then as you saw, the issue with the font not applying on only the Home page arose, and when that was fixed in the latest update, this current issue arose. Just letting you know in case it helps narrow it down for you or your ticket with WordPress.

Thank you for providing additional information about the issue.

I’ve contacted a WordPress.com team. Hope they can provide a solution.

Just a note about the font in the site header section.
By default, the theme uses a heading font (default is PT Sans) for the entire site header section. It’s a part of an initial design of the theme (v1.0.0). You can preview this font and the site header section on a demo site.
This font applies to all elements located in the site header via the th-font-heading CSS class.
I’ve asked a WordPress.com team to change the font family of that CSS class (th-font-heading) when a custom font is selected for headings.
I’ll let you know when I have any updates on this topic.
Kind regards,
Taras -
Hello,
I just want to let you know that I’ve just submitted a new update for Hermes at WordPress.com, and it’s currently under a WordPress.com review.
This update should fix the issue of showing a wrong font family for the th-font-heading CSS class when custom fonts are used, meaning the issue with the site title should be fixed once a new update is pushed to production sites at WordPress.com.
There were other changes as well. To learn more about the changes, please see Hermes changelog (v2.3.0) at https://themesharbor.com/changelogs/
Please ignore AMP information because it’s only available for self-hosted version of the theme at the moment due to the issue with the custom fonts at WordPress.com.
I’ll let you know when update is ready for production sites.
Kind regards,

Hello,
I just want to let you know that the latest theme update is not available for all production sites at WordPress.com.
You can remove that temporary CSS solution from your site now.
Thank you again for reporting the issue!
Kind regards,

Thank you for continuously working on this and letting me know!
All seems fine except one thing: All the fonts of my footers (top posts, recent posts, etc.) are now Bold, whereas they used to be regular before. I believe this has happened within this update itself. Could you please let me know?
