Testimonials – Multi Language

    In my primary menu my testimonials page and title can be displayed in two different languages: English and German, Testimonials and Referenzen respectively. The issue I have is that when my testimonials display on the german front page the title remains ‘Testimonials’ and not ‘Referenzen’. The same issue is present when I click on Referenzen on my primary menu. I am taken to the Referenzen page where all my testimonials are displayed in German but the title displayed on the header image is again ‘Testimonials’ and not ‘Referenzen’.

    Any help with this would be great.

    The blog I need help with is zenith-performance.com.

    Hello Matt,

    Could you please tell me what plugin are you using for a Multi Language support on your site?

    Also, it’s possible that the plugin does not see a Testimonial title. Please go to the Testimonials options in the Customizer (https://snipboard.io/quL4gK.jpg), and then:

    1) remove the title;
    2) save your settings;
    3) add your title;
    4) save your settings;

    Then check your plugin’s options for translating this string.

    Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Kind regards,
    Taras

    Hi Taras

    I am using Polylang. This was recommended by the support chat from wp. The customiser will only allow one title regardless of language. Any way around this?

    Best,
    Matt

    Matt,

    “I am using Polylang.”
    – Thanks for the info. The theme should work fine with this plugin.

    “The customiser will only allow one title regardless of language.”
    – We are not going to use the Customizer for changing titles based on selected language. Let me explain the situation with the Testimonial title.

    By default, this title is not added to your site’s database. It’s shown on your site and in the Customizer but this value is not saved in a database. It’s just a placeholder.

    In order the Polylang pluging to see this title (using options in Languages > Strings translations), it has to be saved in a database. This is the reason why we need to use the hack I’ve explained in my previous post (re-saving the title).

    But I’ve just run a few test and it seems like this solution does not work anymore.

    I’ve just added this issue to the ‘top priority to-do’ list. Moreover, I am going to investigate the problem this week and release a fix once the solution is found. I’ll keep you posted.

    Kind regards,
    Taras

    Hi Matt,

    I just want to let you know that I’ve posted a question in the Polylang support forum regarding the translation support for the testimonials title but I’ve not heard back from the author of the plugin yet.

    The thing is that these strings (testimonial title and testimonial archive content) do not come from the theme. It’s something that comes from the WordPress.com (Jetpack) core.

    Thank you,
    Taras

    Hi Matt,

    I just want to let you know that I still wait for a response from Polylang developer. I’ve also posted a similar question at Jetpack support forum.

    Thank you,
    Taras

    Hi Matt,

    We’ve released a new version of the theme which adds support for translating Testimonials text into other languages when using Polylang.

    Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Kind regards,
    Taras
