Small facebook and twitter icons
-
Hi guys,
I just started using this theme but can’t figure out how to add the small clickable social media icons like the one from the sample page. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi crazyberns,
The social media icons show when the home page template is used as the home page.
Thanks!

Hi Interetinter,
Thanks for your reply. I’m also having a hard time figuring out on how to make it a home page. When I click a particular post there’s no way to go back. Is there any tutorial for this? Thanks in advance. :D

To do this you will want to:
1) Navigate to Pages –> Add New, and create a new page (e.g. called ‘Home’) which has been assigned the ‘Home’ page template, from the ‘Page Attributes’ box to the right of the editor.
2) Navigate now to Settings –> Reading, and set the home page to show the ‘Home’ page you just created as a static page.
3) Now navigate to Appearance –> Theme Options, where you can configure the various social media options.
Thanks!

Thanks Interetinter! I followed your instructions but it didn’t work. All I see is a “Home” page that I created with just a comment section and some small social media icons. I can’t see the default theme with my posts so I deleted the page and now I’m back to default one. :-(
I even changed the page attributes to home page but no luck. There was also this “parent” thing there but I left it blank. For the reading settings part, I chose “Home” as the static page, but didn’t know what to put in the “post page” section.
Anyway, I was able to figure out on how to activate the social media icons but you have to have a created page for them. They won’t work for the default static page.
Please let me know if I’m doing it the wrong way.
Thanks!

crazyberns,
You can choose a static home page but leave the posts page unselected, if desired.
Did you make sure to set the ‘Home’ page template, for the home page you created? Once you do you can set a featured page to display via Appearance –> Theme Options, instead of Settings –> Reading.
Thanks!

I am having a similar issue. I’ve followed these instructions, but now my posts don’t show up on the home page. How do I “feed” my posts onto the home page? Thanks.

Hi lifelatelydc,
To show posts on the home page, navigate to Settings –> Reading, and use the ‘your latest posts’ option.
Thanks!

I might have spoken too soon… It seems that these social media icons will only appear if your home page is set to a static page, correct? When I switched to “Your Latest Posts,” I lost the icons (even though I added the links under Themes Options page). That’s disappointing.

That’s correct — the social icons currently display on just the home page. Let me talk with our other developers and I’ll see if it’s possible to update the theme to show the social icons if a blog index is used as the home page.
Thanks!

I’m having the exact same problems! I loved this template because of the social icons displayed under the header photo BUT I also want my posts to show up on the home page instead of a static page. If you get it worked out with the developers to make that happen I would be thrilled!

Wait!!! It works!!
PAGES> then click on one of your pages.
On the right side there are two drop down menu boxes under PAGE ATTRIBUTES.
Click the one titled TEMPLATE> SOCIAL PAGE.
Do this for each one of your pages and the little icons show up at the top of each page! YAY!!!!

Hi Melinda,
My apologies for the delayed response — glad to hear everything is working well :D

Lifelatelydc,
Can you link to your site and provide an explanation of the process that you’ve gone through?
Thanks!

Melinda,
Do you mean only on the static home page template? That would be correct, as of the present build.
Have I misunderstood?
