    Hello Taras,

    I hope that you are doing well and hope that you can help me with these 2 questions:

    1) Is there a way to standardize the display size of images on a grid page? As shown on this page https://churchwonders.com/india-churches/ , the thumbnails appear in different sizes. Is this due to the amount of text that is added before the “Read More” block? Or because some images are “portrait” and others are “landscape”?

    I’d like to have the appearance of the pages more consistent, if possible.

    2) If I were to want to display advertisements on my pages, where would they be displayed in this theme?
    – Where on Home page?
    – for “non-Home” pages, I guess I’d have to use the “not-full-width grid” page, or a blank page – correct?
    – Will the placement vary between mobile and desktop viewing?

    Thanks much for your help.

    Jeff

    The blog I need help with is churchwonders.com.

    Hello Jeff,

    “Is there a way to standardize the display size of images on a grid page?”
    – By default, the theme displays thumbnails in the grid. These thumbnails are generated automatically by WordPress. Thumbnails has the following size: 760×300px. So, make sure your featured images have at least 760×300px. Otherwise, WordPress will not be able to properly generate a thumbnail.

    “If I were to want to display advertisements on my pages, where would they be displayed in this theme?”
    – You can use widget areas to display your ads. To add an ad code to the widget area, you can use the Custom HTML widget (https://wordpress.com/support/widgets/custom-html-widget/).

    Since you have a Business plan, you are allowed to use third-party ad networks: https://wordpress.com/support/monetize-your-site/#advertising

    Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Kind regards,
    Taras

    Hi Taras,

    Thanks for that information, very helpful as usual – a couple of follow-up questions:

    1) With regard to image size, when you say “at least 760x300px” – does the least refer to the width? i.e. 760 wide?
    2) I’m having some difficulty to “balance” the image size with the kb that it occupies, i.e. if I widen the image to 760px, then the size comes to near 700kb which seems to slow the page loading speed (I try to target ~500kb, but even this may be too large). I use Microsoft Photos to crop, edit and size the images. Any suggestions on the best method or software to prepare images for web usage?

    Thanks, again.

    Jeff

    Jeff,

    “With regard to image size…”
    – Thumbnails should have (at least) the following size:

    Width: 760px;
    Height: 300px;

    “Any suggestions on the best method or software to prepare images for web usage?”
    – I really like this free online tool by Google: https://squoosh.app/

    Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

    Kind regards,
    Taras
