it shows a gallery above the sticky posts. This is exactly how I want to show of my DIY posts. Can you tell me how to make my showcase page look like that, please!I would also love to be able to write a few sentences to explain what it is my readers see there. How do I do that?

Theme AuthorHello,
The Handmade showcase displays featured or “sticky” posts in a collage format, followed by up to 6 recent posts. For best results, feature or “sticky” special posts, not just the most recent ones. If you want to keep featured posts separate from your recent posts (or “blog), you can create a special category to assign them. See Post Visibility for more on making posts Sticky.

Setup Your HomepageHandmade will show a blog layout by default. If you would like your Showcase to be the homepage, set it as your Static homepage:
Go to Settings → Reading
Select A Static Page
Choose the Showcase page from the Front Page menu
Leave the Post Page menu blankI have already set up a showcase page but I do not get how to categories the posts so that they will end up separately.
All the posts I want to show above my recent posts have the category DIY but how do I make them show as a tiled gallery as shown here:
http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/handmade/
Please help me out! :)

Theme AuthorHello,
You can’t – the top part shows sticky posts, the bottom shows most recent. This is just a limitation of the template.
The showcase page was the reason why I did choose this particularly theme! This is not premium to me… If you show it off with a lovely gallery on top and then this is not possible… ??!

Theme AuthorHello,
I really cannot explain it better than above – the showcase needs two things:
1. A page assigned to the Showcase page template
2. Posts marked as StickyThe posts that come after the “gallery” are your most recent posts. The “gallery” is composed of sticky posts.

Theme AuthorJust a note that we changed this functionality along with changes in WordPress in the latest version of the theme. To feature posts, add a special tag, then set that tag in Settings > Reading:
To setup your collage/gallery on the showcase:
Go to Settings→Reading
Enter the tag you are using in the “Featured Content” tag field
Enter 3 or 7 in the number of posts box and check whether to hide your special tag in the post meta on these posts.
