show blog posts horizontally on homepage
In the demo homepage, the blog items (news) are show horizontally with 3 next to each other. Mine are however shown vertically with a huge featuring image (that I don’t know how to make smaller). How to make them appear horizontally?
The blog I need help with is henripurnell.wordpress.com.
Actually, it looks like this is likely related to your other post here:
To get things to work like the demo, you will need to set the homepage to display a static front page. Additionally, you’ll want to create a page for displaying your latest blog posts. Currently you are displaying your latest posts on the front page in which the Front Page sections display above them.
Once the homepage is setup to display a static front page and you have a page created for you blog posts, you can then set the Blog page as a “Front Page Section”. This will then display your latest three blog posts on the front page as shown in the theme demo.
This may sound somewhat confusing. Essentially, you need to create a page for your front page and to display your blog posts. Then you can set your blog page to display as a section on the front page.
There is more documentation on this in the theme setup guide here:
I hope that helps. Let me know how things go.
Thanks, I think I understand it now, but after selecting static page and Blog I still have no blog posts showing up on my homepage. What am I doing wrong?
Be sure you have a page (not the Blog page) set for the Homepage. Then set your Blog page as the Posts Page.
After this is done, you can start setting up your Front Page Sections via Customizer → Theme Options → Front Page. Here you can assign your Blog page as one of the front page sections.
I hope that helps.
I’d done all that, created a blog page, set as posts page and also set as first section in front page. All it shows now in that section is the Blog title. On the page itself however it shows the 4 test blog posts I made.
Can you check to make sure the blog page is using the Default page template?
I’m not sure how. It doesn’t show page template under page attributes (the only thing there is to give it a parent page which I haven’t).
