    Hi miavolta,

    You have two options here:

    1. If you unassign the homepage featured image, the search area will disappear as well.

    2. Or, you can hide the search box with CSS:

    .homepage .home-search {
        display: none;
    }

    Please note that for this option you will need at least WordPress Premium (https://wordpress.com/pricing/).

    Thanks!

    okay, it looks like i’ll have to just leave it. not sure it’s worth upgrading to premium just for that.

    i’m really just trying to use my site to showcase different pieces of writing. i’m not sure the advantages of using the “blog post” type page versus the portfolio/project type page.

    i love having the featured content slider at the bottom. if i switched the posts to projects, would i not be able to feature them like that?

    thank you!!!

    Hi miavolta,

    If you’re happy with the slider setup, then I recommend you continue using posts. The difference between the two (posts, and portfolio/project post types) is mostly categorical, though the latter is meant for media, while the former for written content.

    Thanks!
