Hi, the text in the Search bar (.site-header input.search-field) is always English, although it’s already translated to “Keresés” in Glotpress. (It’s always among the first objects during translation.)

I had to hide it, because one English word seems weird in a full-hungarian blog, but can you help me? I would like to really use this function :)

The blog I need help with is: tempty.hu

    Hi there,

I just checked the translations for Bari.

I noticed the ‘Search’ placeholder text (which is what you hid with CSS) was not translated, but the ‘Search’ button text (which is screen reader text, and not visible) is.

So the word ‘Search’ was translated to ‘Keresés’ in one of two contexts. Just not one that mattered visually. :)

I just added the ‘Keresés’ translation for the ‘Search’ placeholder context as well.

I’m going to tag WordPress.com staff to see if we can get that new translation validated.

    Regards,
    Leland

    Hi tempty,

Translations are automatically activated once 85% of the theme has been translated and the translations have been approved by a validator.

Currently, the theme is only 68% translated into Hungarian, so new translations won’t show up just yet. Would you be able to help with translating?

If so, you can do that here:

    https://translate.wordpress.com/projects/wpcom/themes/bari/hu/default/

Once it is up to 85%, we can have a validator check the translations, and if there are no issues, they can be added to the theme.

Thanks for taking a look at this, dcoleonline!

Translations are automatically activated once 85% of the theme has been translated and the translations have been approved by a validator.

I’m curious, how is the ‘Keresés’ translation already live for the search button text, but not for the search placeholder text?

    Hi Leland,

We have some strings from the WordPress.com project that we can fall back to if we can’t find translation for a theme. So when a theme shares a string that we’ve already translated in a plugin or on the WordPress.com project, we can use it automatically.

For instance, we have some translated strings from WordPress.com here, but they aren’t for placeholder text. Those can be used automatically, but anything else needs to be manually added/approved so it can be launched at the 85% mark.
