Removing blank space/increasing readability

    Hi,

    A couple queries:

    1. Is there a way to reduce the blank space underneath the featured image and above the page title on the site’s posts? I have applied a previous change to reduce the space between the featured image and the header but that has left a lot of space below the image. Just trying to tighten these pages up.

    2. Is there a way to make the date and author font bigger on post pages?

    3. Is there a way to increase text visibility when hovering over the featured image on the front page? Currently, the image fades slightly and the text is white but readability with this setting is dependent on the colours in the featured image. Is there a way to make the hover fade darker, or add a highlight colour behind the text?

    Thanks! Any help in these matters would be useful.

    The blog I need help with is roughcutfilm.com.

    Hello,

    Here are the answers on your questions:
    1. Q: Is there a way to reduce the blank space underneath the featured image and above the page title on the site’s posts? I have applied a previous change to reduce the space between the featured image and the header but that has left a lot of space below the image. Just trying to tighten these pages up.
    A: To reduce the spacing between featured image and the post title please add this class to Custom CSS:

    .single .featured-image {
    margin-bottom: 2.4em;
    }

    2. Q: Is there a way to make the date and author font bigger on post pages?
    A: Please add this class to Custom CSS:

    .single-post .entry-meta, .single-post .entry-meta a {
    font-size: 14xp;
    }

    3. Q: Is there a way to increase text visibility when hovering over the featured image on the front page? Currently, the image fades slightly and the text is white but readability with this setting is dependent on the colours in the featured image. Is there a way to make the hover fade darker, or add a highlight colour behind the text?
    A: Do you need to change fade color on featured slider?

    Thank you,
    – Djordje

    Hi,

    Re: questions 1 & 2, thanks for your help! In applying both of these changes though, I’ve noticed that it leaves a lot of space between the author line and the actual body of text on the page. Is there a way to tighten this up/reduce the space?

    Similarly, on the home and individual post pages, the social icons widget in the footer sits very far down the page, leaving another large gap of space. Is there a way to reduce the space in this area too?

    Re: question 3, yes I would like to change the fade color on the featured image. (It’s currently not live on the site — opted for the stickied post instead.) Is there a way to made the fade darker/more prevalent when hovering over it?

    Thank you!

    Hello,

    Here is the update:
    1. Q: I’ve noticed that it leaves a lot of space between the author line and the actual body of text on the page. Is there a way to tighten this up/reduce the space?
    A: To reduce spacing between author name and the content on the single post page, please add this class to Custom CSS:

    .single .entry-header {
    margin-bottom: 2.6em;
    }

    2. Q: Similarly, on the home and individual post pages, the social icons widget in the footer sits very far down the page, leaving another large gap of space. Is there a way to reduce the space in this area too?
    A: To reduce spacing between social share and the text please add this class to Custom CSS:

    .single-post .entry-content>p:last-of-type {
        margin-bottom: 2em;
    }

    3. Q: yes I would like to change the fade color on the featured image. (It’s currently not live on the site — opted for the stickied post instead.) Is there a way to made the fade darker/more prevalent when hovering over it?
    A: To add background to post title on hover on featured slider, please add this class to Custom CSS:

    .featured-slider a {
    background-color: #000;
    }

    Thank you,
    – Djordje
