    Hello,
    Please tell me how to remove the author’s name at every post and add a favicon to the tab. If these are not available in the Yumblog theme, should I switch to another theme?
    Thanks.

    The blog I need help with is magpiekelly.com.

    Hi there,

    I replied to your original thread regarding the author’s name. I apologize in the delay. Just want to confirm or not if you have the Custom Design upgrade.

    The favicon, also called a blavatar (blog-avatar) can be uploaded under Settings ->General in the dashboard. Note that the image is cached, so it may take a few days before it appears across WordPress.com.

    Have a great weekend!

    No. I thought purchasing a premium theme WAS the upgrade.

    Also, how can I replace my header photo and retain the size that it is now?

    Hi Kelly,

    There’s a Custom Design upgrade that allows you to change colors and add CSS if needed. This would help in removing the author name.

    You can change your header image by going to Appearance → Header
    https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/yumblog/support/

    The header image dimensions are 385×102. When uploading a custom header image, it can be less than 385 pixels wide and less than 102 pixels tall but never wider or taller than the maximum dimensions.

    Please let me know if you have any other questions!
    Have a great day!

    Thanks Angela! Yes, I’ve used the Custom Design elements from the sidebar that appears. As you can see I’ve changed many elements from the original Yumblog template. And yes I have another question. The term “custom design upgrade” allows me to choose Yumblog’s pre-set colors, fonts, and what the widgets will be, but I can’t upload my favorite font or customize the size of my header? The use of the word ‘upgrade’ implies another fee. Am I missing something?

    Also, I have a very large photo now as my header and want to replace it with a new photo. How do I keep the new photo from shrinking down to 385×102?

    Hi Kelly,

    Here’s what would allow you to choose different colors, add fonts, and CSS: https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/. It is a different cost from the theme, its within WordPress.com functionality. Did you purchase this?

    How did you get your larger header photo to adhere to that area? :)

    Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Angela,

    Yes I purchased Yumblog, but the term “custom” is quite misleading and implies that I can upload any font. The customization includes 50 predetermined fonts (plus their bold and italic versions), all of which I was hoping to override. I prefer fonts similar to what Picmonkey offers. You just wrote that I can “add fonts”. How can I upload new fonts to add them? Or do you mean that I can just *switch* them out from the Font list of 50 fonts?

    The forums were quite helpful. Specifically ‘chaitanyamsv’ – he’s a genius. He sent CSS so that the image would ‘stick’ AND CSS to retain the tiny 385×102 header for mobile devices! Duh. And with that lesson I figured out how to delete the author, white out the post icon (clipboard thingy), and a few other things to clean it up a bit. It’s not perfect. Still have some work to do. Like, I think the right column should be right justified. Any tips?

    I had to watch YouTube videos to teach myself how to edit CSS through Google Chrome’s ‘Inspect Element’, which wasn’t all bad since I had a bottle of Prisoner (wine)in the house. I’m still not sure what I’m doing so let’s hope it doesn’t all come crashing down.

    Also, If you search for blogs using the same theme, you can right click (in Google Chrome) for Inspect Element to see how they did it- VERY helpful for for any newbies reading this post in the future.

    If you use the code below…you’ll have to teach yourself how to resize (NOT crop) a photo/img before you upload it to your media library. I used Picmonkey to add the white text first to a cropped picture. Then I saved it to my computer, then resized it in Adobe Element to 1120×244, and then uploaded it to my WP media library, which automatically assigned it a url, which I pasted in between the single quotes below….

    .tertiary-actions {
    height: 244px;
    width: 1120px;
    background-image: url(‘…’)

    SUPER complicated and very time consuming. Not bad for a newbie!?

    Thanks Angela for your help, and I’m sure I’ll be calling on you again very soon.
