Hi there,
I have two issues I’m trying to figure out.
Firstly, I can see on the information page of DailyMag an example where the recent post section in the left sidebar shows the featured images next to each post. How can I have my featured images visible in the recent posts section?
Secondly, because the mobile view doesn’t allow many posts to be seen in one screen, I would like to add a search widget to a menu page. However, this seems only to be possible with a function.php file. Could you let me know how I can create a search page in my menu with a search widget?

The search widget can be added to any sidebar. The menu area isn’t designed to have widgets in it so you won’t be able to include it there.
Using the “Recent Posts by Category” widget or the “Top Posts & Pages (Jetpack)” widgets in a sidebar will display the headline and image like you are seeing in the example site.
