Quote and Pullquote with New Editor (2)
I’ve waited few months but nothing has been done on my previous request, which is not resolved at all, and I could follow up anymore.
It’s not possible to use the new block editor and take advantage of the new block quotes. Have you checked them?
Here’s is just a blog post test, with the preview of what people see!
The blog I need help with is davideroccato.blog.
Thanks for your feedback. In the latest version, we have added support for Gutenberg. Let me check the color options again. We’ll update the theme to fix that if that’s a bug.
It’s not only the colors but also the style, the background. As you can see from the screenshot, nothing is working properly. They are overwritten by all black Floral quote.
I don’t understand when you say the latest version, if I click on my current theme Floral, I only see written version 1.0.
I hope you can fix it soon.
We’re fixing it now. The version of the theme actually doesn’t change on wordpress.com. But we updated it several times here.
Thanks for letting me know you’re fixing it now.
Please, help me to understand, the version of the theme stays always at 1.0 even if you update it for wordpress.com?
It would be nice to see the progression of the work you do or to have a changelog page like other themes have elsewhere. It’s good to know that the theme is updated from our perspective.
We’ve pushed the new changes to the theme which now works with the block editor. We also changed the version to make it more clear.
The changelog for the theme can be found here:
It’s for the self-hosted version, but mostly, it’s the same as the wordpress.com version.
Thanks for the changelog, I appreciate it.
However, the quotes and pull quotes don’t work properly. I understand that you want to keep the black background in the normal predefined quotes (it would be better to also have the white background choice as well), but the new pull quotes don’t work at all.
Here is what I see in the draft:
Here is what I see in the preview:
Please select the “Solid Color” style from the block styles on the right. Here is a video I recorded:
I did that. You can see it from the draft. It’s the 4th one. I’ve done all 4 types of quotes.
The first screenshot in what I see inside the draft.
The second screenshot in what I see when I publish it, or preview.
Unfortunately your theme doesn’t display in the draft exactly what it appears when you publish the post. (it should do it in Gutenberg but it doesn’t do it).
The 4th one is the solid color (I wrote the 2nd pullquote inside the message), you can see how it is in the draft, but then it changes on the preview and when you publish.
I also really like the 3rd one (I wrote the 1st pullquote inside the message), because it has the lines and the style is very nice. But it doesn’t work with your theme :(
I’ve just figured out there was some CSS messing up with the quotes.
Here’s the new screenshot: https://www.screencast.com/t/ERogbLEt5
Doesn’t show the lines on the top.
The background stays black
The color changes between the main text and citation at the bottom.
This is the best pullquote and it’s unusable.
It’s better but the color changes between the two texts
Sorry for the delay. I’ve just pushed a new version with a fix for this. Please check that.
