    Hi.

I have another question about the Profile feature. Is it possible to put this feature within a page to display images (in categories) or is it only for the main page on my blog? Also how do I turn this feature on?

Is this the same as the “Showcase” feature? If not, what’s the difference?

By the way I’ve always wondered if there’s an option to turn off your wordpress(dot)com blog offline temporarily while you’re tweaking it and then upload it once you’re done?

Thank you for taking the time to read my questions.

The blog I need help with is: stormintcup.wordpress.com

    Hello,

I’m sorry but I don’t know what you mean by profile feature :/ Our theme only controls how things look on the front-end, so any feature in the WordPress admin would be part of your account – it may be best to ask on the main support forum. Please also ask them about the maintenance mode – I am not sure about that.

The showcase page is just a special page template that shows your specially tagged posts and featured images in a full width layout:

Steps to set this up are here:

    Hello!

You may assign the Showcase template to any page (it does not have to be your homepage) but it is programmed to display “featured” posts only. This can work similarly to categories, but the template can only be used once (ie you can’t have two showcases showing different stuff). The posts that display there are determined by giving them a special tag, then setting that tag under Settings > Reading as the featured post tag. Hope that helps!
