Portfolio like shown on website
I purchased this theme because I wanted to have a portfolio landing page with 2 columns of thumbnails with title and description just like you show prospective buyers under Flexible Portfolio Options. It says, “Creating as many portfolios as desired is an easy process with Photographer. Portfolios can be displayed in a 1, 2 or 3 column layout. In addition, the title and content associated with each portfolio post may be optionally hidden or displayed.”
I see how to set a page to portfolio but nothing looks like the one you show with the thumbnails linking to my submenu pages under my parent portfolio page. How can I create a portfolio page that looks exactly like the one showcased for this theme with title, thumbnail, and description under it? Am I supposed to create each one under pojects and then link those to the page somehow?
The blog I need help with is jenniferlavelle.wordpress.com.
To create a portfolio you must first create a number of posts and assign these to a specific category, e.g. portfolio. Once you have the category set to these posts, you will navigate to WP Admin > Appearance > Theme Options and assign that particular category to the Portfolio Page Category and set the option for the columns for the Portfolio Page Layout to two columns. There is also an option here to show the title and excerpt for the portfolio items you’ll need to select.
Now simply create a page and assign it to the Portfolio Page Template and your items will display in this page. You can set this page as your Static Front Page under Customize > Static Front Page. Each item will link to the post which is featured.
If you wanted more than one portfolio, just create additional categories of posts and assign the category to your menu. A category can’t be set as your static front page, so you’ll want the portfolio page template for at least one of these.
You’re welcome! :) Let me know if there’s anything else.
