Portfolio layout

    Hi

    How can I get pages to show using the portfolio layout? Under Settings > Writing, I have enabled ‘portfolio projects’, yet I don’t get the tiled view. Do they need to be projects or can they be pages? What is the hierarchy – do you have a page set to the ‘portfolio’ template and then projects as a child under it? I just want it like on the demo.

    I have given you admin rights now to the website.

    Hi Paul,

    My apologies for the confusion with this. This is what needs to be done in order for the portfolio template to display as in the demo:

    1) Create new page and assign to Portfolio template (you have done this under the Tutorial page).
    2) Create a new category and assign this category to the Portfolio template under Appearance > Customize > Theme (you have also done this with the Rhino category).
    3) Create a post, upload featured image (images in the demo are 1600x800px which you should use if you want to replicate the same look), add a manual excerpt, and assign this post to the category created in ‘2’ (in your case Rhino).
    4) Update and the post will display in the page using Portfolio Template.

    You will notice I have edited one of your posts to replicate this. If you view your Tutorial page you will be able to see it display as you would like.

    I’m afraid this theme isn’t set up to the ‘Portfolio Projects’ tab as it was built before WordPress came out with this feature. So instead of projects you will want to create posts.

    Hi

    So I need to move all my ‘projects’ under the portfolio tab to ‘posts’ or ‘pages’? Which one? I thought in the earlier messages it needed to be a ‘project’?! Is there a way to quickly do this or do I have to copy/paste?

    Hi Paul,

    You would need to move your ‘projects’ to posts and assign these posts to the category you select for the Portfolio Template (Rhino). My apologies if my instructions before were mis-guided. Without seeing the site I may have gotten some steps confused.

    Copy-pasting your content into posts is probably the simplest way to do this. Don’t forget you will need to add featured images as I noticed most of your projects do not have one.
