Placeholder Image Theme Conflict

    Need some assistance on where to look to resolve an issue coming from woocommerce and the Spatial theme.

    When trying to view the products through the main store’s page it shows a placeholder image.
    when going into each item (for example it shows the image required.
    I have tried adjusting the image sizes and have made sure the settings for the product image are set but no change.
    I have also gone through each plug in, disabling and re-enabling them to find where the issue occurs.
    The Client really likes the current theme and when changing the theme the issue is resolved (tested standard theme Twenty Seventeen worked straight away with the images appearing)

    Is there any plug in script change i can add to resolve this

    Any assistance on this is really appreciated

    Hi there,

    First of all, thanks for going through those diagnostic steps. That’s really helpful.

    Do you still have WooCommerce active? I see a 404 error on this page at the time of this writing:

    Hello lelandf,

    That ones on me, the href didnt work as required.
    Please review the below 2 examples:
    Page the thumbnails do not work (

    Okay, just want to check: do you have a “Product Image” set?

    I set up WooCommerce (very hastily) here:

    And was able to display a thumbnail on the shop page by adding a “Product Image” (in addition to “Product Gallery” photos).

    The mystery to me is why it would work on Twenty Seventeen and not Spatial though, which makes me think the issue is probably not this simple, but wanted to check anyway.

    I’ve also tagged Staff to see if they may have any additional insights.

    I do want to note that the Spatial theme does not have the “Store” tag (although neither does Twenty Seventeen) and you may have better luck with WooCommerce compatibility with any of these themes:

    Hello Leland,

    Thank you for the prompt response.
    I can confirm the product image is set (and have done some random changes) such as the size of the image to confirm.

    I will wait to hear from WordPress staff as to if a solution can be found otherwise Ill break the news to the client.

    Thank you again

    Hi there,

    In the meantime, I did think of a really hacky way to put the images there with Custom CSS.

    Try this code as an example:

    .post-1216 .wp-post-image {
    	display: none !important;
    .post-1216 .woocommerce-loop-product__link::before {
    	background: url('');
    	background-size: 100%;
    	content: "";
    	display: block;
    	height: 0;
    	padding-top: 100%;

    As you might imagine, this would be a pain to deal with in a growing product catalog, but maybe it could work if new products were not added that often and you didn’t mind the added step.

    I’m thinking there must be a more elegant solution, although I am not sure why WooCommerce is serving a placeholder image on the Store page if you have a Product Image set.

    Howdy @sawurhead I took a peek at the site but I’m not sure I’m seeing the problem except on the Template Test Product ( If you’re still running into problems with your images, please get in touch with our Happiness Engineers via live chat and they can help you out.

    Hello All,

    The client has found another template they like. Thank you for the support and solutions.
