Picture & Caption Alignments Off

    Hello. Just started using Port and find it very clean and attractive, but I’m encountering bugs.

    1. I’ll start with picture alignment. I have a post where all the pictures scrolling down are formatted to be centered with no text on either side. They were fine in my previous theme and also in every other theme I’ve previewed. In Port their alignment is scattered. In the most extreme case one photo is way off to the right while its caption is way off to the left. See http://justsayin2.com/2019/05/05/remembering-dad-at-21/

    2. My other issue is picture captions. Almost all captions are fine. But in a few isolated cases the caption hasn’t stopped at the right edge of the picture but has continued into the right side bar. In the most offensive case I tried removing the picture and then reinserting it and typing the caption again. Same thing happened. I worked around it by removing the caption and writing in my main article instead.

    I hope these are fixable issues. I want to stay with Port.

    The blog I need help with is justsayin2.com.

    Hi there! Sorry about that delay.

    For some reason your captions have hard coded widths, which is throwing off the layout. Add this to your custom CSS:

    .wp-caption {
    width: auto !important;
    }

    Thanks for the help. In the interim I got assistance from WordPress support and my issues are resolved. I’m happy because I really like Port.

    Let me throw another one at you: When someone clicks a tag is there a way to have it just be titled “Tag: Whatever” instead of “Tag Archive: Whatever”? Small thing but it would be nice not to have the word “Archive” included.

    Great! Glad you got it fixed.

    “Archive” is hardcoded into the theme. I’ll see if I can remove it. Once I make the change, it might take a day or two before it shows up on your site.

    Thanks! It’s a pretty trivial thing — but no harm in asking. Tags don’t feel like “archives” to me, especially if it’s a post from a week ago. Let me say again that Port is a great theme. I’ve looked and looked through the options and Port was #1 on my list. It’s very clean, attractive and enhances the content rather than distracting from it.

    Greetings. Haven’t noticed the change. Just curious if you still plan to try. OK either way, though. You know what they say: “If it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” :-)

    Your site should reflect the change now.

    Wonderful! Looks great. Thanks for accommodating me. I’ve sampled many or perhaps most of the available themes and yours was most satisfying to my taste. Clean, crisp, just very nice. Thanks again.

    I am also having similar issues with my captions. In the Gutenberg editor, I see the captions center aligned and staying within the boundaries of the width of the image it belongs to. However, when it is published, the captions span the entire width of the blog post text. I have worked with WordPress Support to help me get the text centered, but they were not able to get them back into the boundaries of the photo.

    I was having issues with pictures automatically resizing to the text width and captions staying within the photo boundary. WordPress Support hd me enter the following CSS code and everything has worked perfectly since.

    /* Adjust image and caption sizes for Port theme | 2041031-zen (JAR) */
    #content .aligncenter, #content .wp-caption {max-width: 680px ;}
    #content .wp-caption-text, #content .wp-caption-text p {font-size: 0.8em; text-align: center}
