    Hi team,

    I’m a novice at this website building thing and have a list of questions below. I’m starting a blog and want to post regularly and really like the feel of this template

    1. How do I remove all the dots around the big boxes?
    2. I want to use similar small boxes like the three boxes in the main page for posts under each topic like Money, Career, Lifestyle. For example, a reader clicks on Money. They will go to the Money page with many boxes for individual post blog
    3. I’m currently using widgets in the right had side of the blog. Will this prevent me from using the featured pages like the slider and the middle three boxes as illustrated in the template?

    The blog I need help with is http://www.justhal.co.uk

    Thank you,
    Hal

    Hi Hal,

    Glad to hear you like the theme! We’ll be happy to help.

    1. Add the following CSS within the Customizer to remove the dotted borders:

    .outline {
        border: none !important;
    }

    2. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to replicate that home page design exactly on other pages. However, you could apply the “Full Width” page template to those other pages. Then, use the “Columns” block to create multiple sections that link to pages. That would achieve a similar 3-column layout, with each column containing an image and button linking to your desired pages.

    3. If you want to display a page that looks like the main featured home page in the demo, you will need to apply the “Home” page template to your featured page. Then, you will need to setup the home page options within the WordPress Customizer. The theme documentation outlines this process, https://wordpress.com/theme/restaurant/setup

    I hope this helps. Thanks!

    David

    Hi David,

    Thank you for your help on the above.

    I have some additional questions that I hope you are able to clarify please

    1. logo resolution recommendation as the one I have is quite blurry. I tested different sizes and seems to not have many luck
    2. remove all the shadow edges and just have a separation line under menu and logo
    3. remove widget background colour and just have it white
    4. how do I add a text box around widget titles and make the Follow button the same length as the title box
    5. Instagram feed is not connected in the widget section after I logged into my Instagram account
    6. add separation line after each widget
    7. remove ‘by Just Hal’ for a blog post and keep only the avatar and date
    8. add share buttons at the end of the post or have it as a small widget with just the icons on the left handside
    9. How do I add effect to a picture for when I hover the mouse over a linked item?

    Thank you so much in advance
    Hal

    Hi Hal, I’ll need some clarification on some of these questions in order to help further…

    1. Logo should be no larger than about 640 x 640 px.

    2. You can add the following CSS to remove the shadow behind the content:

    .content.shadow {
        box-shadow: none;
    }

    However, I’m unsure what you mean by “just have a separation line under menu and logo”. This sounds like something that would need to be done by additional customization, and not possible to do within the theme settings.

    3. Again, since I can’t view your site I’m unsure what are you mean by “widget background color”.. but to change the general background, this can be done in the customizer by going to the “Colors & Background” section. Click the “Palette” button to select a color.

    4. The theme does not offer a default Follow button; therefore, we’d need to view your site to see where this is on your site and determine a solution.

    5. Instagram feeds are provided by third-party plugins, and not the theme. You’ll need to reach out to the makers of the Instagram feed you’re using for support on this one.

    6. It’s not possible within the theme options to add separation lines between widgets. This would need to be done with additional customization, such as by a service like Codeable.io.

    7. Try adding the following CSS to remove the post author:

    .meta-sep {
        display: none;
    }
    .author vcard {
      display: none;
    }

    8. Share buttons are not features of the theme. These would be added with either Jetpack, or another social media plugin. Please reach out to general WordPress.com support for assistance using Jetpack settings to add share buttons.

    9. What type of picture? How have you added the picture?

    Hi team,

    I went away and applied some changes. Please may I kindly request for your guidance on the below?

    1. How do i make the general text darker, at the moment it looks grey-ish and quitre light

    2. How do I make the page title i.e Home, Money, Career smaller and centre?

    3. The widget background is slightly grey. Can I please make this white?

    4. I came across a website using this theme https://thefoodielovers.blog/ and they somehow made the boxes on the widget side colour. Please is there a code I can use to make it like this?

    5. I’m unable to get the tag line show up

    6. How do I narrow down the width of the main body on the left, the margin between the body and the widget are very small. I wish to increase this please

    7. The dotted line is still showing up at the bottom in the footer, is this something I can also remove please?

    Thank you team again
    Hal

    Hi Hal,

    Did you switch to a different theme? The site justhal.co.uk does not appear to be using our Restaurant Theme any longer..
