    I don’t remember this happening in the past but just recently upon initial page load the font will start with the default font then flicker to my custom font.

    Any idea how to fix this problem? Thanks in advance for your help

    The blog I need help with is datadrivenathlete.com.

    I’m thinking this has to be a problem with the theme as removing my custom CSS still doesn’t solve the problem.

    When we recently added free Google fonts to all sites across WordPress.com, we changed the way web fonts are loaded. On slower connections, we used to show a blank page before the content loaded – now, we display the content in the theme’s default font first, so no one sees a blank page. We realize this means that there may be a flash of a different font before the page finishes loading, but we think overall this is better for folks on slower connections than seeing a blank screen. We appreciate your feedback about this change, and understand that it may not be what you are used to seeing.

    Thanks for the reply…

    My feedback would be that a blank page is vastly superior to the “flickering font” effect on each page load.

    In my opinion the flickering font is distracting and makes the page look unprofessional. Rather than an initial positive impression of my site, you’re seeing a weird text transformation.

    Would love it if you defaulted back to the blank page. Thanks for listening

    Thank you very much for the feedback. I will definitely pass it along to our Customizer team so they can consider it.

    Our team has passed along this custom CSS snippet, which should prevent the flash you’re seeing, or at least make it less obvious – would you like to give it a try and let me know if that improves things?

    .wf-loading body {
      visibility: hidden;
    }
