order of featured page thumbnails

  I’ve set three pages with the ‘featured’ tag and set their page order to 1, 2 and 3. but this doesn’t seem to affect the display order on the home page. they appear to be sorted by date from newest to oldest. I’ve looked in the customizer and can’t see a setting for it. WP help pages talk about using the pages widget but that’s not being used here eh?

  Unfortunately, WordPress.com’s featured content functionality relies on tags which in turn relies on dates. You’d need to change the publish dates for Pages to order the featured content.

  In the self hosted version of the theme, we built our own Featured Content functionality where you can add any post or page via the Customizer and arrange via drag and drop.

  Worked for me. I wouldn’t have thought the fix was predicated on when the page was created; rather, when the page was tagged.
