Option to change color/transparency of default background

    Hello-

    I asked WordPress support earlier if it was possible to alter the default dark grey transparent background on the homepage as well as other pages. I’d like to be able to do this via rgba in the css editor. WordPress said this is simply not possible because the theme uses an image instead of a CSS rule and if this was a deal-breaker my only recourse was to switch to another theme. Is it possible to add this type of functionality so I can lighten the grey or switch colors entirely on a per page basis? My problem is that I am demonstrating artwork and it makes it difficult to show proper colors on the homepage slider.

    Also, not a high priority, but is it currently possible to put a scrolling menu, say bubble icons, to be able to pause/scroll through the images faster than watching them rotate?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

    Sure, you can do that using css. For example

    #overlay {
        background-image: none !important;
        background: rgba{255,255,255,.5;}
    }

    The scrolling arrows for the slider is not possible unfortunately.

    Thanks,
    Edy

    This worked great. Thanks again for the quick response.

    I just noticed that unfortunately changing this also changed the background color on all the pages, not just the homepage. Is it possible to change this on a per page basis? When the background is clear on the other pages it makes the text unreadable.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    To change it only in the homepage you can use this code instead

    .home #overlay {
        background-image: none !important;
        background: rgba{255,255,255,.5;}
    }

    Thanks,
    Edy

    This worked perfectly. I did have to comment out the other CSS code you provided in the post above that changed it on every page in order for it to work. It then switched back to the theme default for the other pages. I know I may be a bit picky here, but is there a way to also customize the other pages along with the homepage?

    Thanks for all your assistance.

    Nevermind. I figured it out. I had to remove the !important from the previous code.

    Okay, unintended consequence of this change. The white text above the content area on each page is now not visible since the background is also white, which just leaves the red triangle to point to the header which you cannot see. Two things:

    Is it possible to change the font header to black text or simply remove the red triangle all together?

    Also, is there a way to potentially separate the featured image ( which is the thumbnail on the gallery ) from also being the background image on the gallery?

    Hi,

    To remove the red triangle please check this topic

    https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/topic/how-can-i-remove-the-red-triangle-from-headings?replies=3

    Background images are the featured images of each portfolio entry, so it is not possible to separate them.

    Thanks,
    Edy
