MemberHi, I am trying to set up Collections to a site for my collegues at school.
I seems I have managed to set a static home page with a menu. From here, I am at a loss. I have searched everywhere I can think of during some hours. This site is supposed to display PowerPoints, video, audio, links to useful sites, some photos and regular text.
How do I:
-set up video page(s) and link to menu
( displayed in demo, you have a mosaic)
-set up PP page(s) and link to menu
-link to Home from pages
-change color of font
( I have bought the premium account)Nina
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
Well, I have spent a few more hours by the computer and have made a little progress. I would really appreciate some help.
When a page displays, you get the page title – but on a light grey color. I am dissapointed, I guess, by the fact I can’t find any possibility to change colors in customize.
I’ve tried “inspect element” in Firefox, found the wrapper, changed values for color when pasting in to CSS – nothing changes.
I am guessing I’m not doing it right.
Any chance of some help here?melissajohill
MemberHi there,
There is a tutorial that explains how to set up Collections for WordPress.com.
I think there is some confusion, because you do not create a page with videos, for example. Rather the theme will automatically put all video posts into the Videos page. The theme relies on post types to sort things into categories or collections, so it’s not possible to add a “Power Points” post type, unfortunately. You can certainly create a page and link to it with your sidebar widgets, but it won’t be possible to style it the same as the custom post types.
If you have the Custom Design upgrade and are having problems with the CSS, you can either post questions here or in the CSS customization forum. Let us know what code you’re trying and we can tell you what’s going on with it!
Hi,
Confusion, yes, because the demo is one thing – and the template seems to be something ” a bit” different. It really looked like you would be able to set up a video gallery, and since .com can’t accept plugins I will have to drop the wish for a video gallery.
I’m getting on with it, since I spent a fair sum for the template. I have had some great help in the CSS forum, and I am going for the workarounds I can come up with to set up this site in a way that can be useful for its purpose. It will take some time.
Thanks for getting back to me.melissajohill
MemberHello! When you post a video type post, it will build the Video gallery. This page explains how to use post formats.
Glad to hear you’re getting on with the CSS! If you find yourself stuck with that, let us know and we can point you in the right direction.
Yes, I am getting on.
I seem to slowly getting a grip on this theme and manage to add css to the things I want to change – so far. Gosh – it’s taking time!
Now I wonder; I have the option to “include this css in the mobile theme”. At present, “no” is ticked in customize and it’s left unticked in the css.
What is going to happen if “yes” is ticked ?
Is changes made in web view also?
Your recomendations?melissajohill
MemberSince the theme is responsive, you do not need to check this box. Or you could check it — it wouldn’t have any effect anyway. :)
Thank you!
