    Hi binarymoon,
    This theme is really awesome and just want I wanted for my digital magazine! Listed below are the questions I have regarding Bromley. I’m sorry for being so demanding! :(

    1. I used the CSS code you provided to add in a logo to the navigation bar, but I’m not sure how to replace the URL when the photo is from my WordPress gallery.

    2. How do I edit the triangles out of the navigation bar and make it so that when I hover the sub-categories don’t show?

    3. How do I make the length of the navigation bar smaller in size?

    4. Do I need CSS to add in a search feature to the navigation bar or is there a plugin for that?

    5. How do I remove the “previous” and “next” articles suggested at the bottom of my blog posts?

    6. How do I remove the white background behind the articles? How do I make the articles not stress across the page? (I tried doing it with a widget, but I’d rather have the length be set and not have to deal with a widget).

    7. I know in a previous post you mentioned that we can’t get rid of the WordPress credit. Is that still true today? Can I just remove the line next to the WordPress logo if it is?

    8. How do I edit the labels on the featured articles so it matches the layout of the featured articles from the website cosmo.ph?

    9. Are blockquotes meant to be formatted in the Gutenberg or do I need CSS to do that?

    10. How do I replace the date with the main category of the article, but still manage to keep it somewhere within the blog post itself?

    Sorry, and thanks!

    The blog I need help with is obviouslygemini.com.

    Hi – thanks for the message. Really pleased you like the theme!

    1. I used the CSS code you provided to add in a logo to the navigation bar, but I’m not sure how to replace the URL when the photo is from my WordPress gallery.

    What CSS is that? If you can give me a link to the post you saw, and a link to the image you want to use then I will customize it for you.

    2. How do I edit the triangles out of the navigation bar and make it so that when I hover the sub-categories don’t show?

    You need to create a custom menu and assign that to the top menu position. By default the menu displays pages/ categories but you can replace this with your own structure.
    https://wordpress.com/support/menus/#creating-a-custom-menu

    3. How do I make the length of the navigation bar smaller in size?

    I’m not sure what you mean? It’s full width. You want to change it so it’s the width of the content? Should it still be centered, or pushed to one side?

    4. Do I need CSS to add in a search feature to the navigation bar or is there a plugin for that?

    There’s no way to add search to the header. I would suggest adding it to the top of your sidebar.

    5. How do I remove the “previous” and “next” articles suggested at the bottom of my blog posts?

    The articles are the next and previous in date order. You can hide them with:

    .single .postnav {
    display: none;
    }

    6. How do I remove the white background behind the articles? How do I make the articles not stress across the page? (I tried doing it with a widget, but I’d rather have the length be set and not have to deal with a widget).

    You can remove the white background with:

    .main article.post-archive {
    background: transparent;
    }

    Regarding the width, could you clarify what you want?

    7. I know in a previous post you mentioned that we can’t get rid of the WordPress credit. Is that still true today? Can I just remove the line next to the WordPress logo if it is?

    This is a WordPress.com limitation, not something I have set. Since you are on the business plan it looks like you can remove it entirely. The rules, and instructions, are here: https://wordpress.com/support/footer-credits/

    8. How do I edit the labels on the featured articles so it matches the layout of the featured articles from the website cosmo.ph?

    That’s not possible with this theme I’m afraid.

    9. Are blockquotes meant to be formatted in the Gutenberg or do I need CSS to do that?

    What do you want to do? Blockquotes will work, and you can customize them in Gutenberg. If you want to change the default layout you can do that with some custom CSS.

    10. How do I replace the date with the main category of the article, but still manage to keep it somewhere within the blog post itself?

    You can’t change the content layout I’m afraid.

    Thanks – Ben

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply!

    1. This is the code I’m using. My photo is uploaded on WordPress, and the original file is saved on my computer. I’m unsure of what to replace the URL thing here with.

    background:url(“http://obviouslygemini.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Flux-Studio-smaller.png”) left center no-repeat;

    3. Sorry, I meant how do I re-size the navigation bar? I’m trying to get it to look like the one from cosmo.ph, and the length of it is too big.

    7. Is that line in the footer part of the requirement thing or is that just user error? :/

    9. I want to remove the background & change the font and font-size of the blockquotes.

    Everything else I have figured out or will figure out on my own. Thank you again for your help! :)

    Where do want the logo to appear? The same as on cosmo.ph?

    At the moment the logo is the same colour as the header background so it would need to be made in white, or the header background colour changed.

    I’ve made some custom css that tries to replicate cosmo.ph. You may need to tweak colours or logo to make it look how you want:

    header.masthead {
        background: url(http://obviouslygemini.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Flux-Studio-smaller.png) no-repeat 10px center #59ea7c;
        background-size: 200px;
        padding: 5px;
    }

    .masthead nav.menu {
        text-align: right;
        font-weight: bold;
    }

    .masthead .menu li a {
        border-color: transparent;
    }

    @media only screen and (max-width: 699px) {
        header.masthead {
            padding-top: 30px;
            background-position: 10px 10px;
        }
    }

    3. Sorry, I meant how do I re-size the navigation bar? I’m trying to get it to look like the one from cosmo.ph, and the length of it is too big.

    Ah ha – so I think you actually mean the height of the bar then. I have made the adjustments in the CSS above.

    7. Is that line in the footer part of the requirement thing or is that just user error? :/

    Ah. Since you’re premium I think you can add the following css to sort that out.

    #footer { display: none; }

    9. I want to remove the background & change the font and font-size of the blockquotes.

    I should be able to help with that. Do you have a link to a post that has a blockquote that I can look at?

    1. Would it be possible to make the featured content photos a lot bigger and spaced out so that it takes up at least 50% of the homepage in height and is stretched all across to the right? Would it also be possible to add a transparent layer over the images instead of the headlines and have the category centered while the headlines are still justified left? (Again, trying to match cosmo.ph).

    2. How do I change the width of the block containing the recent articles? (For reference, the recent posts of cosmo.ph do not align with its featured content.)

    3. Is it possible to remove the “on” where the date was originally and move the headline up so it aligns with the featured photo?

    4. On blog posts, how do I hide the “categories” and “tagged” features?

    5. How do I remove the line underneath the headline on blog posts?

    6. Somehow the logo doesn’t take you to the homepage when you’re on a blog post?

    7. I’m trying to get my blog post articles to look like this. Is it possible to make the featured photo as big as that but still have the post formatted the way it is, only with the headline moved up? How do I change the width of the entire blog post? How do I change the background color of the block the post is in? Additionally, I also want my quotes to look similar to the way cosmo.ph does, without the background and with heavier font-styles.

    Thank you, and I’m sorry again for having so many demands! I’m really in love with the theme and refuse to give it up lol.

    We might be able to tweak the layout to match cosmo.ph more closely but it will need some updates to the theme. I’ve recently made some changes which may help but we will need to wait for them to be deployed to your website which may take a while.

    2. How do I change the width of the block containing the recent articles? (For reference, the recent posts of cosmo.ph do not align with its featured content.)

    I am not sure what block you are talking about?

    3. Is it possible to remove the “on” where the date was originally and move the headline up so it aligns with the featured photo?

    The following will hide the ‘on’ text. I have also added some code that will also hide the bullet in the next theme update.

    .text-on, .sep-bullet { display: none; }

    4. On blog posts, how do I hide the “categories” and “tagged” features?

    .taxonomies { display: none; }

    5. How do I remove the line underneath the headline on blog posts?

    I think this is what you want:

    .singular article.post h1.title,
    .singular article.page h1.title,
    .singular article.attachment h1.title {
        border-bottom: none;
    }

    6. Somehow the logo doesn’t take you to the homepage when you’re on a blog post?

    That’s because it was added with some custom CSS. I assume that’s what you wanted?

    If you upload your logo through the customizer then it will be clickable.

    Is it possible to make the featured photo as big as that but still have the post formatted the way it is, only with the headline moved up?

    The theme does not support automatic display of featured images. You can add an image block on posts to position your feature image wherever you like.

    How do I change the width of the entire blog post?

    .singular.page .main-content, .singular.themes-sidebar3-inactive .main .main-content {
    width:90%;
    }

    How do I change the background color of the block the post is in?

    .singular article.post, .singular article.page, .singular article.attachment {
    background: #eee;
    }

    You can pick your colours here: https://prothemedesign.com/tools/color-picker/

    Additionally, I also want my quotes to look similar to the way cosmo.ph does, without the background and with heavier font-styles.

    I had a look but I can’t find any quotes. If you can give me a link to a page with quotes on it then I might be able to give you some CSS to make them look more similar.

    1. Sorry, the recent blog posts look like they align with the featured content posts. If there are changes made to the featured content, will the recent posts stretch across with it? If it will, how can I control that?

    2. Here is a link to an article with a quote in it: https://www.cosmo.ph/relationships/catfish-online-dating-scam-a249-a249-20200407-lfrm?ref=feed_1.

    Thank you again!

    Hello again! How do I change the font of the navigation bar text? Also, can we remove the arrows for the drop-down menu but still keep the “drop-down” aspect of it?

    As you have it setup currently the content will not change size.

    2. Here is a link to an article with a quote in it: https://www.cosmo.ph/relationships/catfish-online-dating-scam-a249-a249-20200407-lfrm?ref=feed_1.

    This looks pretty close to me. It will look different in the editor, but be bolder on the site.

    blockquote.wp-block-quote {
        background: transparent;
        border: none;
        text-align: center;
        font-weight: bold;
        font-size: 30px;
        padding-left: 15%;
        padding-right: 15%;
        color: black;
        line-height: 1.2;
        margin: 2rem auto;
    }

    How do I change the font of the navigation bar text?

    .masthead nav.menu {
    font-family: arial;
    }

    Also, can we remove the arrows for the drop-down menu but still keep the “drop-down” aspect of it?

    Technically you can do this, but personally I would recommend against it since otherwise people won’t know there are more options available.

    If you want to do it then use the following:

    .masthead .menu li a.sf-with-ul:after {
        display:none;
    }

    Hello! I hope you are well. I like the way the logo looks on my blog, but I would like it to link back to the homepage, and I can’t upload the image through the customizer it seems? There is no option to do so under Site Identity.

    Thanks!

    Hi – I have submitted an update that adds proper support for custom logos to the theme. We just need to wait for the WordPress.com team to approve the addition.

    Thanks – Ben
