Music Player Not Adding Additional Song?
I tried to add a new song to my music player on the sidebar. The upload works, it shows it as song 5 on my playlist in the customize view, but it doesn’t seem to be actually outputting on my site’s homepage.
I have tried uploading the music file as an .m4a and an .mp3 with no luck.
The blog I need help with is: napalmpom.com
I’m only seeing four songs in your music player widget:
[playlist images="false" artists="false" ids="14,372,16,17"]
And I’m seeing four tracks on the front end as well:
Are you saying there should be a fifth song as well?
Hey! Yeah, I’ve re-added the fifth song in the back-end and it’s not showing up on the front-end.
Ah! I don’t think the music player widget is going to update automatically when you edit the playlist somewhere else in the editor. I think you’ll need to add the fifth song number manually, they’re not connected together. Could you give that a try?
Sorry, it’s been awhile since I’ve played around with the music player.
Can you help point me towards how to go about adding it manually? I’m just not sure where to look in the back-end anymore, I guess!
Sure! So if you go into the WP Admin editor’s Media Library, click on the song you’re looking for, and you’ll see a panel open up, like this:
In the address bar, you’ll see an item number. For example, this song is item 615. You can then add that number to the music widget in the order you want it, like this:
[playlist images="false" artists="false" ids="14,372,16,17,615"]
Let me know how it goes!
Amazing! It worked! I don’t remember ever doing that before, but thanks so much.
Great! You’re very welcome.
Another way to do this in future is to create a temporary draft post, and use the Visual Editor to create your playlist. Then switch to Text/HTML view and copy-paste out the code into your text widget – perhaps that’s what you did before?
