More tag issue
Hi, I tried asking this in the regular WP support and they say it is a Bromley issue. When I attempt to add a More tag in a post with an image, no link appears–in fact, the […] disappears and there is just blank space that follows right after the More tag. Here is an example: http://wp.me/s4iPsq-155
Please let me know how to fix!! Thank you!!
The blog I need help with is gtrblg.wordpress.com.
Thank you!! I just left a post over there. Fingers crossed that we can find an answer!
Hi – I’m afraid that since your site is set to private I can’t actually see the problem so am not 100% sure what you’re referring to.
Would you be able to make it open so I can have a look for you?
Hi, I would like to keep the site closed until I am ready to open it for public viewing at the end of this week. But I would like to fix this issue. Is there an email you could send me so I could send an invitation to you for private viewing? Thanks!
Hi – I have been looking into this and it seems that the way the theme is setup the more tag will not work. It should always show the […]. The only time it won’t is if you use the custom excerpt – however the custom excerpt does not support the more tag.
The more tag only works when the full post content is published on the archive pages – however Bromley only shows ‘the excerpt’ (the first 40 words in the article).
Hi, yes, the Word Press support people thought the more tag was not working because I had an image inserted at the beginning of the post before the text. Even then, with the […], it seems that you ought to be able to click on the ellipses/bracket to take you to the rest of the post but it doesn’t. The only way to read the rest of the post is to click on the title. This will be confusing to readers, I think.
I did check out a couple posts I had under an archive page but the more tag was not working there.
Will there be a fix for any of this? Is it possible? Thanks!
This is the standard functionality I’m afraid. There’s no plans to add a read more button to the theme as that would change the theme for everyone who uses it.
Clicking a post title to read a blog post is a standard on almost every WordPress theme so I don’t think it will cause a great deal of confusion.
Ok. Thank you for taking the time to investigate all of this, much appreciated!
