Left side menu disappears when scrolling up or down on any page

    Left side menu disappears when scrolling up or down on any page and then reappears after you stop scrolling.

    This happens on iPads, when using Opera (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/opera-mini-web-browser/id363729560?mt=8) or my website, as an app (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id1097281589).
    I know that this is not an issue with my app, since it also occurs in the Opera browser, on my iPad.
    This seems to be a bug with the theme and not wordpress.com.

    Well that’s odd. I’ve never heard of that. My guess is that it’s a speed optimization in Opera. Since the menu is setup to not move it would need to be drawn repeatedly by the browser. By not drawing it constantly the browser can be kept nice and smooth.

    I’ll see if I can work out why this is happening here.

    Keep in mind that Opera is rarely used on mobile devices. It has roughly a 1% browser share. As such it’s not likely that many users will see this issue.

    The same exact issue is happening to my iPad app in the App Store. The app link is above. The app I simply displaying the website as an app. Since it has the same issue, it appears to not just be an opera issue. You are welcome to install the free app to see the issue for yourself. Also, pleas install opera on a iPad and you’ll see the same problem in both. Thanks for looking into this.

    I have done a bit more research into this and have made a couple of tweaks to the styles. I don’t know if this will fix it but am hopeful.

    I have an old iPad that I rarely use. I’m currently charging it so I can try to test it properly :)

    I checked Opera and my App and have the same left side bar disappearing issue when scrolling.

    Hi Paul

    I have now tested the theme on my iPad with both Opera and your app – and it works perfectly – so I think this is solved.

    That said – I did noticed the navigation bar in your app – which isn’t part of the theme – has the same problem.

    My guess is that whatever you used to build your app is using the Opera rendering engine (which is freely available for third parties to use) to wrap websites – which is why the same problem happens in both apps.

    I can only assume the reason it’s not working for you is a caching issue. I don’t know how to clear cache in Opera on an iPad but if you trying restarting the ipad and then testing again then hopefully it will work as expected.

    I cleared the cache in opera and deleted both opera and my app and reinstalled them, and the issue remains.
    When scrolling down or up the page, the left side menu disappears.
    I am using an iPad mini 4 with IOS 11.2.
    I can contact my app builder to see what website engine is used in my app.

    I’m afraid I am stumped. I don’t think anything can be done about it – at least not something I can work out. I will certainly keep my eye out for solutions but I don’t think it’s looking very promising.
