Images in Portfolios
Hi: I’m trying to set up my site to function as a portfolio, with the basic look that is shown in the Bindery theme demo. I’ve set up two “portfolio” categories, with the featured image and text, but when you click on them, I’m not sure I understand how to get the images on the secondary page to show up, so that they look like this: https://binderydemo.wordpress.com/portfolio/painted/
And where do additional images in this category go? Do I have to set up a blog post for each of them and link them somehow? Or a gallery?
I’ve read through the demo, and the info it provides is minimal. Also, the links to the developer site don’t work.
The blog I need help with is: pidseattle.wordpress.com
Thanks for getting in touch – It looks to me like you’ve got it set up correctly using Portfolios now, with the images to the right, correct? let me know if you need additional help with that at all!
For additional images in one Portfolio post, you’ll add the images to the post, and choose the featured image to be the main image on the index. Then, the additional images will appear below it on the portfolio page.
Hope that helps!
Thanks, yes, I finally figured out where the “Gallery” link was…..it sure was hidden.
I’m wondering though about another item: the filter seems to pull from the Categories that have been set. Is there a way to change the text in the Filter? You can see that I’m using subtitles as categories, and they don’t make a lot of sense in the filter.
Thanks in advance…..
Are you wanting to change the title of ‘Filters’ to something else? I’m not sure I can change that from this end, but I can add this to our feature request list if you’d like!
Hi Calvin: No, the title “Filters” is fine. I probably wasn’t clear in my explanation. :-) Let me try again.
It looks to me like the Filter feature pulls the categories from the “Project Types” that are set up, which is also the same type that’s displayed in small caps over each of the square featured images. Is that correct?
The problem I’m having is that I want to use that small type on the featured images to be more descriptive, so for example on my second image, if you roll over it, you’ll see it says “First impressions Count” in the small caps and then “Logos” is the Portfolio section title.
The problem I’m having is that the filter pulls the small -caps title: “First Impressions Count” which doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. So my question is: is it possible to change the text that the Filter displays, either to the Portfolio section text (Logos) or something else?
I realize that’s how it’s sorting the work, but I’m just wondering if there’s a workaround. I realize I’d have to purchase the CSS premium to do any changes. Thank you in advance for your help.
Ahh, I see what you mean! Unfortunately we aren’t able to change the way that the filters work in this way, but I could help you remove that feature, or I can add something to our feature request list if you have something that you’d like added to the theme!
Thanks, I think I know how to remove it. My request would be just to be able to change the displayed name of the Project Types in the Filter.
