    Hi,

I am new to wordpress and I have fallen in love with your “profile” theme. I have been working the different options for the theme, however I cannot seem to add the imac display screen that is shown in the demo of the “profile” theme?

Is there a way to add this to my home page, or to another page on my website?

    Thank you!

    Kind Regards,
    Aaron

The blog I need help with is aaronvanschaik.com.

    Hi Aaron,

The iMac is shown when the home page is configured to use the home page template. Can you confirm that you are?

    Thanks!

    Hi Intertinter,

I have chosen the home page template for the home page and yet am unable to view the imac display.

    Here is my website.

    Hi Benjamin,

My apologies for the delay in response — I didn’t seem to have received a notification :(

I do see, however, that the slider is showing on the home page. Can you confirm that you’ve resolved this?

    Thanks!

    Hi interetinter :)

Where do I find the Imac slider? Can’t seem to find it in the backend.

And how do I change or get rid of the word “Home” in the middle of my home page?

    Much thanks in advance :)

    Hi Mary,

The slider can be configured via Settings –> Reading. It uses Jetpack’s ‘Featured Content‘ module.

    Thanks!

I am sorry Interetinter but you lost me here… :(
I downloaded jetpack but how do I upload it in my site?, set css at the featured content, now what?
    Do I need a shortcode?
Why isn’t the Imac slider ready in the backend? would be so much easier for us dummies :)

    Hi Mary,

Is your site hosted through WordPress.com, or do you have your own hosting, domain, etc.?

    Thanks!

    #32693

Yes wordpress.com and I work with the theme Profile

    Okay —

Have you navigated to Settings –> Reading, as per the link I provided?

    Thanks!

    #32715

Yes, but what do I have to do in Reading? Do I have to fill in something at TAG?
I really do not know what you mean

    Hi Mary,

That is correct, yes — you will need to tag your content, insert that tag name for the ‘Featured Option’ reading setting, then select the number of posts you want to show.

    Thanks

    #32737

Can you please be specific and write down what I have to fill in at TAG?
    imac?

Interetinter, I really wonder if you know the answer to my questions:

Where do I find the Imac slider? Can’t seem to find it in the backend.

And how do I change or get rid of the word “Home” in the middle of my home page?

    You keep telling me riddles….

Anybody else here who can tell me how to install the Imac slider on the home page?
What has Jetpack to do with it?
Can I use it on WP.com?
And how to get rid of the word Home on the Homepage?

    Somebody make me happy?

    Mary,

    You need to:

    1) Create a page (Pages –> Add New), and assign it the ‘Home’ page template from the ‘Page Attributes’ meta box. Publish.

    2) Navigate to Settings –> Reading, and set this page as your static home page.

    3) Navigate to Appearance –> Theme Options, and set a featured page to display on the home page. The title of this page will be the title that shows, so you can use this to replace the word ‘Home’

    4) Navigate to Posts –> Tags, and create a new tag, e.g. ‘slider’

    5) Navigate to Posts –> Add New, and create a set of posts with the ‘slider’ tag attached.

    6) Navigate to Settings –> Reading, and configure the ‘Featured Content’ area to show the ‘slider’ tag

Once these steps are performed, the slider will display automatically.

    Thanks.

    Mary,

Have you selected a different featured page via Appearance –> Theme Options?

For the image to show in the slider, you need to attach a Featured Image to the relevant post.

    Thanks!
