Hey Carol,
Thanks for including a link to your site, that alway helps when it comes to looking into requests, issues, and so on. I checked it out (and the customization looks great :).
On blogs that are hosted for WordPress.com, there’s not an option to install plugins as a lot of functionality is included out-of-the-box.
See this specific post for more information about this.
Mayer has been written to honor as many of the SEO best practices as possible; however, I’m definitely open to hearing suggestions for feature requests or functionality that you’d like to see if it would improve the core theme.
If there’s a particular plugin you’re looking to install, check out the link above and chat with the WordPress.com support team – they may be able to help you out.
Hope this helps!
Tom
Got your message, thank you – maybe WordPress.com will not work for me since I want the Mailchimp plugin so people can sign up for my newsletters. Bummer.
Sorry, I did not know this before I signed up.
Carol
No worries!
If you end up going with WordPress.org / a self-hosted installation of WordPress, let me know.
Right now, Mayer is only offered for WordPress.com; however, I’m considered releasing it for self-hosted blogs, as well :).
Best of luck to you!
