How can I enable enlarged photos of my shelf images?
I am a painter who uses the Shelf theme. I recently posted a painting of mine which is really long in terms of aspect ratio and thus appears rather small on my post. Is there a way to allow for a viewer to click on the image and have it open larger in a separate box? Specifically I am talking about my “Independence Day” post.
Also, my home page does not match up with my landing page and I am afraid I screwed up the coding on that when I first got it set up. How can I link these together? Thanks.
PS. I LOVE me shelf theme. Other than the issues mentioned above I have been very happy with it.
The blog I need help with is lagoarthurstudio.wordpress.com.
Thanks for the kind words about Shelf — we appreciate it :)

Rather than setting a featured image, you could insert the image directly into the post content. Then, when you’re uploading this image, be sure to set the Link URL to File URL (5).

To clarify, when you click the Home link, would you like it to point to this page?
Thanks! I hope this helps :)
Thank you for your prompt response. I still seem to be having a problem with the first item. I tried uploading the image again–refrained from hitting “featured image” and instead selected “file url” and also tried “attachment post url”. I seem to be able to select it but when I go to save the changes don’t seem to stick. And by “selecting it” I mean that the button gets a thin outline around it but does not change to another color, etc.
Also, if I hit the “Edit image” button I find a tab with advanced settings that allow me to select “Open a link a new window”. I have checked that box and also put in the link in the ” Link Rel” box and do not seem to get any results there either. What am I missing here? lol
And yes, I would like for my “home” page to point to the page you mentioned above.
Hi again, Suzanne :)
With your first issue, could you please provide us with a link to the post you’re having this trouble with, so we can take a look?
To add a Home link to your site’s navigation menu, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to Appearance → Menus;
- Under Pages, switch to the View All tab;
- Check Home, and click Add to Menu;
- Click Save Menu.
Hi Scott! :)
Here is the link to the image I am having problems with, http://lagoarthurstudio.wordpress.com/2012/10/29/independence-day/. When you figure out what I a doing wrong please let me know as I would like to enable the enlargement feature on all my images.
Also, I do already have a functioning Home page. The problem is that it is not pointing to the landing page where all my most recent posts appear by default. That is what I would like to call “home” instead. Does that make sense?
This is the link to my “home” page as it is now.
Sorry for the confusion! It looks like Image posts cannot link to the full-size photo. I’ve opened a ticket, and we’ll be sure to let you know when we release a fix for this bug.
In the meantime, you may like to use the Standard post format.
To clarify, when you click your Home link, you’d like all posts to appear, is that right?
Thanks Scott, that is great news about the ticket. I would have contacted you sooner had I known it was that easy, lol! Thanks!
And in answer to your question: To clarify, when you click your Home link, you’d like all posts to appear, is that right?
I guess what I have in mind is that I see that there is an extra page so to speak that is not in my navigation which is where all of my most recent posts go by default. If I click on my name (lagoarthurstudio) in the background it takes me to that page. I would like that page to be my “home page” as that makes the most sense to me in terms of navigational hierarchy. But since I don’t see that page listed in my navigation I can’t rename it. Does that make sense?
It’s not possible to modify this link, unfortunately.
I’m sorry this isn’t the answer you’re hoping to hear :(
