Questions regarding the main homepage slideshow.
From what i can see the only way to get images into this slideshow is by having a blog post for every image and a featured image for every post?!?..which is great until you want to add 2 or more images from every event you blog about!?.. is there a way around this without using the secondary slideshow (very basic with black background) style.
If not, is there a way to create blogs with a featured image that wont appear when clicked upon, or be part of the blog page? almost hidden blogs?
Seems a very limited way of handling slideshow images unless iam missing something.

The blog I need help with is markwaltersphotography.co.uk.

    Hello!

You have the option to use the Slideshow Page Template which lets you simply upload images to a page as a slideshow instead of linking back to posts in question.

The alternative is to hide the featured image from displaying on single posts so that instead you can create a gallery of various images into the post directly. There is an option to hide the featured image on single posts if you navigate to your WP Admin > Appearance > Theme Options > Single Post Featured Image.

    Thanks!

Thanks, i see the difference now. And i assume i could set the homepage to show as a slideshow template style?
    Few more questions;
1- Can the blog page show only certain catergory(s) or does it have to show all posts?
2- Can the Portfolio page link to blog posts and standard pages, ect?

I may have an issue with my templates, i want a services in style as your demo, but when i change the page to that style another page changes as well?

    Hello!

Yes, you could set the homepage to show just the image slideshow by assigning that template to your front page instead of the homepage template.

    For your other questions:

    1) I’m afraid it’s not possible to do this in the WP.com version of the theme. All posts will display in the blog page. The only way to display posts from a particular category is to set that category to your menu. It doesn’t give you the same blog layout, but gives you the option to sort by category.

    2) The Portfolio page can only link back to the posts which display in it.

Are you wanting just a blank menu item like the ‘services’ in our demo menu? You should be able to just add a custom link, set the URL to ‘#’ and then add your other pages as sub-pages to this one. This way you’ll get the same setup we have. However, you shouldn’t be affecting more than one page if you are changing the template so if you can provide a bit more information on that if you’re still getting the issue I can see what might be causing it.

    Thanks!
