(Tried posting this 2 days ago, that seems to have disappeared; re-posting now since it appears I can now post successfully)

Hi. I just started using WP (so definitely still learning) and am enjoying your theme. Thanks in advance for the help…

I’m having trouble getting menus to work.

I have set up menus so that they work on a basic level, but can’t figure out how to get secondary menu items to work. Currently, I have “Categories” set up and working…so the menu bar looks like so:

    HOME MENU1 MENU2 MENU3 MENU4 CONTACT

What I can’t get working is how to get the menus to contain menu items, like so (hope this aligns OK):

    HOME MENU1 MENU2 MENU3 MENU4 CONTACT
    M1ITEM1 M2ITEM1 M3ITEM1 M4ITEM1
    M1ITEM2 M2ITEM2 M3ITEM2 M4ITEM2

When I attempt to add menu items, they just keep appearing in the top menu bar, like so:

    HOME MENU1 MENU2 MENU3 MENU4 CONTACT M1ITEM1 M1ITEM2 etc.

I’m obviously doing something wrong, but I’m not sure what. Have I set up the primary menu items incorrectly?

Via Personalize > Customize > Menus > under “Menus” I have one item, labeled “Category (Currently set to Primary Menu)” …
in there, Menu name = Category
Below the Menu Name field, I have the items that appear as top-level menus in the menu bar.
I have been unable to find how/where to add menu items below each menu.

Can you point me in the right direction?

Working on a Mac in Chrome, if that matters (but have Win10 machine/multiple browsers available if switching would help).

Many thanks for the help. BTW, your active participation in support of your users and obvious responsiveness is one of the primary reasons I chose your theme. Much appreciated!

The blog I need help with is hermanistan.com.

well, the forum software seems to be stripping/ignoring multiple space characters, so alignment in my post above isn’t working. Basically, I’m looking to add menu items below the menu headers, like so:

    MenuHeader
    MenuItem1
    MenuItem2
    MenuItem3
    etc.

    Hello,
Thank you for using the Hermes theme!

“I have set up menus so that they work on a basic level, but can’t figure out how to get secondary menu items to work.”
    – You can create a sub-menu in the Customize, under the Menu section. Please check a video tutorial @ https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

“Many thanks for the help. BTW, your active participation in support of your users and obvious responsiveness is one of the primary reasons I chose your theme. Much appreciated!”

Thanks for the prompt reply. I’ll take a look at the linked tutorial and see if I can make progress. Will post other questions in separate threads. Thanks.

    – I’ve checked your site and I can see that some of your menu links have a sub menu :) So, I guess you were able to resolve this issue :)

    – Thank you for keeping this forum organized!

    All the best,
