    Hi!

    I’m uploading a jpg for my header with white background that shows up grey. I’ve tried gif as well and there is still a grey overlay. I want all background white. It’s white as a jpg in photoshop but turns grey after posting. I also tried to upload just my logo but it fills the whole frame. Simple logo on white is all i want. Thanks!

    The blog I need help with is blog.emilypolar.com.

    Hi Emily, it would appear you have switched themes so I cannot see the issue you are describing. Let me know if you intend to switch back and I can offer some assistance at that time!

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Hi! Thanks for getting back to me :) I just switched back. Some of the posts are missing titles and when I upload my jpg header its grey not white as it is in the psd, jpg, gif etc…

    Lastly would like to make sure I can only have one link/menu up top. It’d be nice to have a back and website link.

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi Emily!

    For the header, we actually add a gray overlay on top of images so that when people place text over their header image, you can read the white text, even if the image has white in it. This is what you’re seeing, the gray overlay between the image and the header text.

    If you have the custom CSS option available to you, you can override the header CSS using this snippet:

    .has-header-image #header .shade {
    background: #fff;
    }

    We may see about finding a way to solve that issue for you if you give us some time to discuss it internally here. :)

    Regarding the other items, the posts that are missing titles are set as image posts, which we do not include a title for. If you want those posts to include a title on the grid pages, you would need to switch the post format to standard in order to see the titles. For menus, there is only one menu there. Sorry for any trouble! Hope you do enjoy the theme though! I’ll chat with the rest of the team to see if there’s anything we can do to enhance your experience with it.

    Great. I went in and changed the format to gallery and it shows up…i figured it was somewhere in there. I don’t have the custom option and prefer not to pay for it if I only want to change one thing after I’ve already paid for a theme. I do love this one…all I want is a layout with thumbs and a little bit of text.

    It would be great if you could swing a change there to white or have the option to toggle from grey overlay to white.

    Thank you!

    Hi Emily,

    I know you already took care of the gray overlay issue on your end, but I wanted to touch base with you to let you know that we pushed out an update that removes the overlay when there is a background image.

    We decided it would be better for the end user to decide what type of image they could add and if they want to modify with custom styles.

    If you ever needed to add custom styles you can do so using a plugin, such as the JetPack plugin which offers a bunch of cool features. One, called “Custom CSS”, allows you to write CSS that will be added to your site.

    I believe this covers all the issues you mention above, if you have anymore questions concerning this thread let me know. I will leave the thread open for a couple days before I close it out.

    Thanks so much for doing that :) it’s nice and clean now.

    One last thing. Just want to double check that it’s accurate I can only have one menu title? Currently I have website but it’d be great to have a back button in there too :)

    Hi Emily,

    I’m not completely sure what you are asking, I think what you want is to add more Menu items. If you want to add more menu items you can by going to Appearance > Menus. And from there add links to other pages of your blog or Links to pages outside of your blog (like your personal site). So you could set the blog menu up to mirror your photography site menu with items like “Photos”, “About”, “Blog”, “Contact”.

    If by Back button you mean a button that takes the user to the last page they visited, like the Back button in the browser, no you can not add something like that to a website. The browser users a special function to be able to store a users past visiting data and call it when the Back button is clicked.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Caleb,

    Thanks for getting back to me. Yes it is regarding adding more menus. I know it says it here but just want to verify that I can only have one menu :( It would be great to have 3 :)

    Noted under:

    Edit Menus Manage Locations

    Your theme supports 1 menu. Select which menu you would like to use.
    Theme Location Assigned Menu
    Primary Menu

    Thanks!

    Okay I see what you mean now. Yes, the theme only has one Primary area for the menu.

    You can create a Custom Menu widget in Appearance > Widgets that will show up in the footer widget area.

    Would that work for what you want? I can’t think of where you would want a third menu.
