Google Reports Faults

  • Google reports my mobile site. as having these faults can you help please.

    Clickable elements too close together,
    Text too small to read,
    Content wider than screen

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there – Thanks for the message.

I’d need a bit more information to know where to start, or even to know if I can help at all.

How do you get this list of faults? Where is Google telling you this? Is this the mobile site or the desktop site?

Based on the errors – I would guess we’re looking at the mobile site. If I look at your site on a mobile device you are using the mobile theme which is not necessary with Chronicle so I would suggest disabling that and seeing if that helps.

  • Thank you for the reply i am constantly recieving reports through google mail. The problem is recent and is in relation to googles new mobile usability search standards only.

“Its with or without Mobile Theme enabled”

Google did say from February 2019 when they announced the mobile-friendly ranking algorithm that this would have a “significant impact” on the mobile search results and users would be downranked in search results.

This appears to be affecting people all over the web but worse for cms users like WordPress

  • Thanks for the extra info. That’s very helpful.

Does the report tell you exactly where the problems are, or does it just say that there are problems?

Are you able to upload a copy/ screenshot of the report so I can read it for myself? If not then I will need to look into this some more to see if there’s a way I can duplicate the report and see if there’s anything I can improve.

  • Have put some images from google usability errors on website top menu “Test”

  • Thanks – got them. You can remove the page now.

  • I’ve been looking in to this and I’m not sure how to tackle it at the moment. Without knowing exactly where the problems are it could take months of tweaking and testing to find out what the problems are.

I’ve browsed around your site and can’t find any element that match the errors described by Google. So I’d have to randomly tweak things until it says it’s ok.
