    Is there a way to widen the display to fit the full screen?

    I’m brand new to all this, so please forgive my ignorance.

    Thanks for your help.

    The blog I need help with is revealingspiritthroughnature.com.

    Hi Michael,

    No worries! Everyone starts somewhere. :)

    Try this snippet of Custom CSS and let me know how it works out:

    body.no-sidebar .site {
    	max-width: 100%;
    }

    Regards,

    Leland, thank you so much. That worked beautifully. I much prefer the full width of the screen being utilized for the content.

    Now, am I able to make the photos in the blog posts and the gallery to fill the full width of the screen, OR will this mess up the display on the smaller displays (phones and/or iPads)?

    Thank you again for your generous help. It is very much appreciated for this newbie.

    I’m glad that worked for you!

    As for the photos in the blog posts being full width, it wouldn’t mess up the display on smaller devices because the images automatically scale down to fit.

    Just to clarify, you’d like the images to be full width, but the text-based content to remain the same width?

    And can you give an example of a page with a gallery on it? Or are you referring to pages like the homepage?

    lelandf, thanks again. Yes, I would like the images to be full width within the blog posts (not the “snapshot”on the home page) and the text to based content to go full width also.

    In regards to the photos in the “gallery”, is it possible to have a “snapshot/smaller/thumbnail photo that could be clicked on for a larger/full width view? Maybe the smaller view could be 1/4 full width size and when clicked on it would go to a full width view? You can view my gallery on revealingspiritthroughnature.com.

    I hope that is articulate enough. Again, I’m learning new language in this new world of blogging for me. Thank you for your patience and generous help.

    For 100% width blog post content, try this:

    body.single .post {
    	padding-left: 0;
    	padding-right: 0;
    }

    I would like to note that too many characters per line can be hard to read. You can read more about that at The Elements of Typographic Style Applied to the Web.

    Of course, it’s your site and you have the freedom to do what you want. I just wanted to make you aware. :)

    Then try this to make images inside of blog posts 100% width as well:

    .single .post .size-full {
    	width: 100%;
    }

    In regards to the photos in the “gallery”, is it possible to have a “snapshot/smaller/thumbnail photo that could be clicked on for a larger/full width view?

    Unfortunately not. I think you’re describing a “lightbox.” These typically require custom JavaScript, which is not allowed on the main WordPress.com platform (for security reasons) at this time.
