Front page

hi tara:
I really like this theme that you have created!
I do have some few css questions to ask you though.
Home page:
1. How can I reduce the footer size in order to get more picture and less footer? (as in this site: https://butchsculinarywinetours.com)
2. How can I make my menu options a more solid white so that it can be more visible?
3. Also, for the featured images, are only landscape and not portrait pictures accepted? I found that when I use portrait style picture there is a black background and it doesn’t span the whole computer screen like the picture I have currently.
4. How can I set a featured page #1 such as seen with this site (https://paulasiqueiraphotography.com) with a box menu option vs the links I currently have?
5. Can the footer area can be changed from grey to white?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello,
Thank you for using the Appetite theme! It’s pleasure to hear that you like the theme :)“How can I reduce the footer size in order to get more picture and less footer? “
– To reduce the paddings in the footer area, please use this custom CSS:#colophon { padding: 20px 0; }To reduce margins of the sections in the footer area, please use this custom CSS:
#colophon .footer-inner, #colophon .social-list .menu-items, #colophon .site-copyright { margin-bottom: 10px; }—
“How can I make my menu options a more solid white so that it can be more visible?”
– Are you talking about the background color of the header section during the scroll?—
“Also, for the featured images, are only landscape and not portrait pictures accepted? I found that when I use portrait style picture there is a black background and it doesn’t span the whole computer screen like the picture I have currently.”
– The featured image should fill the entire container. The reason why it does not fill the container is because of the custom CSS that you’ve added. Please remove the following CSS from your custom CSS option to fix it:#primary-header .featured-image { -webkit-background-size: auto; -moz-background-size: auto; -o-background-size: auto; background-size: auto; }—
“How can I set a featured page #1 with a box menu option vs the links I currently have?”
– I am assuming that you are talking about the first slide in the Featured Content. So, in order to add custom buttons to your content, please add primary-button class to your link using HTML tab (https://en.support.wordpress.com/beginning-html/). Here is an example of HTML:<a href="https://loveslegato.com/">Portfolio</a> <a href="https://loveslegato.com/">Read More</a> <a href="https://loveslegato.com/">Get in Touch!</a>—
“Can the footer area can be changed from grey to white?”
– Please use this custom CSS to change the color (background color and text color) of the footer area:#colophon { background: #ffffff; color: #000000; }Hope this helps.

Hi:
thanks for response. Just a quick follow-up question however.
In regards to #3:
“Also, for the featured images, are only landscape and not portrait pictures accepted? I found that when I use portrait style picture there is a black background and it doesn’t span the whole computer screen like the picture I have currently.”
– The featured image should fill the entire container. The reason why it does not fill the container is because of the custom CSS that you’ve added. Please remove the following CSS from your custom CSS option to fix it:#primary-header .featured-image { -webkit-background-size: auto; -moz-background-size: auto; -o-background-size: auto; background-size: auto; }I removed the code and now I have a gray background showing and the edges of the photo doesn’t line up anymore with the footer.

“I removed the code and now I have a gray background showing and the edges of the photo doesn’t line up anymore with the footer.”
– The reason why you see a gray border is because your image has it: https://loveslegato.files.wordpress.com/2017/09/img_2986-e1505445120707.jpgIn order to hide it on your site, you need to remove this border from your image.
Hope this helps.
