From square one…

  • Hi,
am at the start of creating a blog using Minimum and I am trying to work out how to increase the width (ie: use the whole page) of the blog.

Am using sidebar/content/sidebar theme option and just want to spread everything out. I thought I had it when I started putting widgets into the sidebars but even then there is two big chunks of nothing on each side of the blog which I cant use.

As per the question “Getting name of site to flush left” do I need to pay for the CSS upgrade and then use Firebug to test whatever I move?

Apologies for the nube question but everyone has to start somewhere I guess…

    Cheers

  • Okay, just started playing with the CSS editor and maybe with trial and error I might be able to get something workable.

Still though, my issue is the amount of real estate you can work with on the screen.

Even the theme options page with its six options to choose from gives you the impression that you can use a whole page vice just a strip in the middle of the page.

I wonder how many other people have fell for the sell of Minimum via the Manage Themes page that shows Minimum as being a whole page?

  • Have you seen the theme setup docs, which show how to set up the home page widgets?

  • Andrea,

I have seen them, read them 3-4 times trying to find the answer to my woes but they are written for a person who dabbles in code on a regular basis.

Maybe you should consider writing an FAQ of common issues with the theme as going back through the comments it seems to me that there have been a number of people whom have had similar issues to me.

Your response hasn’t helped me one iota thank you very much. Having said that I will have another go at it today but I think I am leaning towards a refund and from there sussing out a theme with support that can explain to people like me in more than one way how to setup a page.

  • Thanks for the feedback on the docs. Do you have suggestions for improvements?

Mos tof the main page is set up by dragging widgets in place. There should be no code involved for that, and no coding is needed to make your site look like the demo.
